It can't happen soon enough, IMO. Just another example of how hard Sega has dropped the ball over the last decade.
The game probably won't be localized for Vita. The PC version will, but the Vita is selling 15,000 units per month in the US. It would be a stupid business decision for SEGA, as much as I'd like to see it.famicommanderNot hard to put subtitles in the games though. So if someone wanted it, and it "wasn't" going to get localized, they could import it if they wanted it w/o having to learn the language to understand whats going on.

Yeah, PSP games made it stateside so there is a good chance of the game still being localized.
good question. was excited when i heard about it coming to vita, but i didnt get my hopes up on getting the game anytime soon.
PSO2 is one of the big games that drove me to buy a Vita, I think it would be really great on a handheld.
Sega pushed the release back to an unspecified date, a few months ago. I still have good hopes that they will eventually release it, but I am irritated that the game no longer even has a release quarter.
If Sega would at least explain why the game was pushed back, or give us some information on how the localization is coming along, I might be more content about things. But I guess it's stressful because this is a game that really could have shined on the Vita.

Ultimately SEGA has to pay someone to do the work on the Vita version, no matter how minimal. Phantasy Star Online is a niche game and will probably not find a giant audience in the US on PC. The Vita is borderline irrelevant as a gaming platform. especially in the West. It just doesn't make economic sense to invest more money in a niche game on a dying platform in a region that doesn't care. Like I said, I'd love to see it. I have a Vita and I love Phantasy Star. But it's just not going to happen. SEGA won't even give us Valkyria III or Yakuza 5.

SEGA recently "leased" Bayonetta and Sonic to Nintendo in order to publish system exclusive sequels. Outside of PSP series and Soulsac laying down a foundation for (high demand) hunting games for VITA in the west; there's reason to doubt a localization.

But (like someone else pointed out) if the process is as simple as SEGA needs to: add a few server blades in their EU/US servers (maybe even in just one region), have a light text translation, release it on PSN - than, it should be a done deal.Â

We'll see.
