when is the psp 2 coming?

Do you guys think the PSP 2 will be coming soon? PSP is getting sorta old now, and it's getting a bit stale. Few games are being released for it and the graphics processors aren't as impressive as it used to be.

perhaps Sony will make the announcement this year about it?

if they are makeing one its not coming out for a few years

3 years is a long time for a system that's supposed to be technologically advanced.

The PSP had a clear advantage when it came out originally. It had really amazing graphics for a hand-held. But now all the psp games aren't as impressive as they once were.

Whatever the case may be, It's exciting to think that they can make a PSP 2 that would top the PSP. Can you imagine what that system would be like? Graphics that are at least 2X better than the original XBOX, 100 gb internal hard drive, maybe a keyboard to search the internet with.

Wow I'm surprised some people sound skeptical about whether Sony will choose to make a PSP2 or not. I think it's pretty safe to say that they will. They wouldn't just abandon their handheld gamers after only one generation. Oh and don't think that just because they lost this [Handheld] Gen doesn't mean that they will try next time around. I mean technically speaking, we all know that the PSP > DS n e day. Period.

In terms of actual sales and what not the PSP lost, but that's because the DS is more of a gaming machine. The PSP is more of a multimedia machine which is why I got it. But when the DS is hacked it is actually comparable to the PSP.

I think the Next Gen of handhelds will definitely be interesting though. Who knows maybe Microsoft is cooking up their own handheld as of this moment. I think the PSP2 and the PS4 releases will coincide with each other. If not be like a year or two apart. I'm guessing maybe around 2010-12 ish...:?

If the current PSP is a bit stale to you, chances are PSP 2 will also be stale.

If you seem to forget, Sony sticks with their platforms for a very long time.

Look at PS2.

It's definitely way too early for a PSP 2. Even though Sony didn't and probably never will outsell Nintendo in the handheld market, plenty of PSPs have been sold and plenty continue to be sold. A company doesn't have to "win" a console generation to stay in business. Look at Nintendo for proof of that.

That said, I wonder what they will do when the inevitable PSP 2 does come around. I'm hoping for internal memory, mainly something to speed up load times. Hopefully it'll be backwards compatible with UMDs, or have some kind of (legal) functionality to allow you to put games on memory sticks.

PSP is nearly dead as far as i'm concerned. From the look of it right now, 2008 looks like a barren desert for the PSP. Just prepare the the drought and you'll be fine.waii_hui

Where did you hear that a PSP 2 is on the way? Did you actually read about this from an official source or just some other person like yourself who likes to post questions based on false information?

I thought the PSP 2 was teh PSP slim+ light!

I can't realy see what else they could do realy!

I guess they could immprove the graphix, add an adjustable camera on top of it, built in hot spot thingy so you don't have to stand in Starbucks to get internet access!

The reason I ask is that I'm seeing a lot of bad games released on the PSP right now, and not much of anything coming this year. Sure, there's always the movie-tie-in titles, multi-platform releases, but 2008 doesn't look good for the PSP. The last few months have been slim pickings too. I thought Sony was abandoning their baby and starting new with another PSP. Still It's fun to imagine what the PSP 2 would be like.. it might have a touch screen, keyboard, big hard drive.

After skimming through your responses, I'm staring to think it is too early for the PSP 2.

it will proably come out in 2011 or 2012 i dont know but seriously the PSP is still alive and new games are comeing out.. like God of War.Crisis Core,etc.. this looks like a good year for the psp:)
