I have stalled on getting a PSP, and still haven't bought one yet. A number of things make me hesitate about buying it, the lack of NEW games that aren't remakes, ports, multi-platform releases, the load times, more expensive games, lack of second nub for controls, etc.. Now i've just got to have it for some reason, but then a second thought crossed my mind. It's already been 3 years since PSP was released, is the PSP 2 coming very soon? How far away is it coming?

Was the PSP released on march 24 2005? If so that's not exactly 3 years. Since they are coming out with the slim version next month I doubt if they'll release a PSP2 any time soon. This time next year or even toward Christmas of 2008? If the slim doesn't kick up sales it's probably more possible than if the sales pick up with the slim. ...but who knows? I can understand what you're saying but I'm going to finally get a PSP and maybe have about a dozen games for it by the end of the year. If i already had a PS2 I might think twice about it but for me games like Burnout legends, Wipeout pure, Syphon filter are all new so i'm feeling pretty good about it...like i said if i had a PS2 i might think more like what you're saying though.

Don't expect a PSP2 until Nintendo brings a new handheld to the competition or in about another two or three years.... Especialy considering the fact that we are just now getting a redesign.

I also stopped myself from buying a psp, because I was wating for sony to release the psp2

but now with the new slim psp, I will be buying one,

even if they do release the psp2 soon, which I dont think they will do anytime soon, I will enjoy the psp until they announce more price cuts for the ps3.

I think the earliest they will release the psp2 will we 2010.

The PSP hasn't been doing just ports for a long time. Sure most of the better games are built off of existing franchises, but its no different than how this works on any other system. The load times have been much better now than the maiden voyage of the PSP. Developers have been much more keen on programming for the system, this be it since most games now aren't ports and made specifically for the system. As far as any multiplatform release it will always look better on the bigger systems, but keep in mind you can't take these bigger systems on the road with you without some fangled setup that most certainly doesn't fit in your pocket, and the PSP still does a good job with its hardware to give the full 3d experience you'd expect from a console. PSP games are anywhere from 25-35 bucks, and you can find a lot of used for 10-20 bucks, this is a lot cheaper than the 60 bucks of current console games. No right analog stick.... yeah this just sucks, never made sense why Sony never implimented one, and makes shooter games tricky if not hardly playable. Some games like Siphon Filter have some ingeneous fixes to this, such as a mode the resembles WASD mixed with Goldeneye camera control.

There is a new version, kindof like an upgrade of the current PSP that should be out soon that offers video out up to 480p(HD), more RAM for faster loading, and a little less bulk. With the existing multimedia and internet capabilities of the PSP, although not as user friendly as the Ipod, the new PSP version still should make this attractive for its 170 dollar price if you wait just a bit for this upgraded system. Its not a PSP2 though, and one shouldn't expect one anytime soon. Maybe wait till Nintendo releases a truly capable 3D portable and you might see Sony rolling around ideas.
