So I'm thinking of trying Playstation Plus with the three month subscription. I was just wondering if it's better to wait until August since it seems the content changes on it every month. Along with that, if I started it now, does the subscription go by days or by months (meaning, would my subsription end around this time in September, would I get the full month of September, or would it overlap into some of October since we are in mid-July now)?

Actually, the content changes every Tuesday. There really isn't a "heads up" so to speak in regards to what content will be made available. More like a crap shot tbh. I've had PS+ since its inception and have gotten tons of free stuff. It definitely is worth the annual subscription. Having said that, you should just get it now and see what they will put up. Infamous 2 was free the last time I checked as well as other games. Can't go wrong.

Playstation Plus pays for itself. I cannot tell you how many "price reduced" or free games I have gotten off of the Playstation Store tanks to Plus. It's great!

I am about to get it. They have 12 free games on it, which is one hell of a deal for $50 a year. Does anyone know how often they put free games up?

it depends, its also up to the devs if they want to put it up. They are usually giving out free game almost every week (small PSN games/Minis) but its only been recently that they have been putting up alot of full retail game up for free. Probably cuz its the summer.

Just for clarity, do the games we get for free go away once they're replaced/taken down from Playstation Plus? I'm assuming the ones bought with the PSPlus discount remain in your library, but wasn't sure about the free ones. Sorry if this is a stupid question, I just want to be clear on it all so I don't get caught by surprise.

Once you download the game (be it free or you pay for it), it will remain in your library until a. you delete it or b. you don't renew PS+. I have free games from the very beginning of Playstation Plus that are still in my library. Edit:To clarify, only the free games you download will you lose access to. Anything you buy will remain in your library no matter if you keep PS+ or not.

they dont go away, at all. If you let your member ship run out and are no longer are PSN+ member then you simply cant access those games. Once you re-join, then the are available again. They dont get erased or anything. If you delete them, you can just simply go to your download list and re-download them again.

Wow, this is starting to sound like a really good deal. I'm thinking I'll start with the 3 months to see how it goes, but I can definitely see myself going for the yearly subscriptions after that runs out. Not really on topic, but if you delete the game data but not the save files you can just reinstall the game data and go right back to your save file, right (I'm asking because I need to clear up some space on my HDD)?

yeah the game data has the updates and intalls for that game and stuff like. If you delete the game, and delete the data, to get the data back all you have to do it put in the game/ start up the game and it will ask you to download the updates and install watever needs to be installed. As long as the you have the save file, you can start off were ever you left off. for save files, once you get PSN + they'll be saved in the Cloud storage automatically so if you delete the save file, just go to the cloud folder and copy it back to your ps3

Oh nice, so does it save to both the cloud and the system or just the cloud? I like the idea of the cloud, just not sure how it really works.

both to the ps3 and cloud. so if your ps3 breaks on a random day and you hadnt backed up your save files on a usb/external harddrive, dont worry cuz its on the cloud. I really recommend getting the whole year membership cuz 3 months will go fast and considering all the good stuff they gave out recently, who knows if in the next couple of months there isnt as many good things available.

the only thing you've got to worry about is the fact if your just wanting it for a few months and thats it, it ain't worth it, because what ever you downloaded for free from the ps+ once you stop paying and go back to normal they take wot you've got back and you cannot play it, unless you stay on ps+, other than that it seem's great wot they give away and i think you've missed the few best months.

Do you have to be signed into Playstation Network to play the PS+ games?

Reason being is that I'll get PS+ to back up saves but am a bit weary of downloading games and taking the console round to the missus's only to find I cant access Infamous 2, for example. If thats the case I'd probably just get it to back up my Demon and Dark souls save games and not bother downloading the feeebies.

Anyone know?

I do believe you have to be connected to PSN to be able to access stuff downloaded from PS+. I'll double check tho. Edit:It appears it is dependent on the game.

Cheers for checking Dalger. I think I'll just use it to back me saves up then and just get disc versions of games. I wasnt holding out for a lot of offline content anyway to be honest considering the way it's all set up.

Well I ended up going for the 3 months, but after having a whole bunch of games downloaded from it, I'm definitely going to be getting the yearly subscription when this one runs out.

You can get it now. It will just add on to what you already have. Meaning, at the end of your initial 3 months, it will automatically start with the yearly subscription.

Nice. Also, I think someone else asked, but are these games accessible even if I'm not connected to the internet but am still subscribed to PS+?
