man im getting frustrated my tv only does 1080i not 720p its a great tv a 61inch widescreen had it over 4 years now ,but saving up for a 65inch 1080p dlp tv but taking a little time to get it

Yeah they did. You have to go to your options in on your PS3 menu and change the outputs available to only 1080i (uncheck 480p and 720p) then everything will come in 1080i.
I've already run Resistance and VF5 in 1080i doing this.

yea maybe, but this still doesnt help old games like resistance So, all new upcoming game will play in 1080i like MotorStorm, Lair, etc..?
I really hope they fix this problem too. My TV does both, but I HATE 720p. I don't know how people got it in their minds that progressive scan is better than interlaced scan. The picture in 720p has a really soft, hazy, blurry look to it. 1080i looks crisp, sharp, and more detailed. Everytime I play Resistance I'm thinking that the game would be so much more enjoyable in 1080i.

Actually the soft glossy look contrasts nicely against a rigid graphical presentation quite well.

I'm read in this thread that recent update allow VF5 to play in 1080i. so will it do with other games as well.
WOW, im really really confused, im sure many other people are as well.
Some people are saying that the 1080i issue has been fixed from updates, games like "Resistance Fall of Man" and "VF5" are able to play in 1080i.
First of all, can anybody else confirm this, is there a link? i know i've read somewhere that VF5 and sonic are able to play in 1080i, however, i've heard that sonic was actually suppose to be made in 1080p (like the 360 version) and that they screwed up the info on the back of the game. Does anyone else know if other games besides the ones mentioned now can be played in 1080i?
Screw 1080i! Sony's gotta get a move on scaling everything into 1080P just like the 360 (Last Fall's Update). I'm sick of playing just Virtua Fighter, Ridge Racer, Tekken, & Q-Bert in 1080P.
I'll be pissed if the March Update doesn't rectify the problem. I'll be more pissed if Ninja Gaiden Sigma doesn't scale up to 1080P.
By the way, you can buy a Sony 60" 1080P LCD tv from Best Buy for roughly $2399 when on sale. I replaced my 2005 Sony 720P tv w/ a 50" Sony 1080P LCD tv and I couldn't be more pleased. On w/ the 1080P and forget the rest.
