When do you guys think the PS4 will come out? The PS2 was out for like 7 years, so yeah

I hope never... no, but really I hope this gen last quite awhile. I think Sony is in a good position to utilize the Blu-ray disc format and create larger games, better audio, in game features, and still thrive and woot us with beautiful graphics for quite sometime. They can drop the price whenever they want to continue to have gamers or new comers jump on the bandwagon through out the life span. The exclusives there coming out with are looking great and the free online is a huge plus for the system as long as M$ continues to P2P and with the new motion controller for the casuals & hardcore; I find them in a very good position even though there in distant 3rd place imo. I just have a feeling Microsoft and Nintendo will pull another fast one and start the next gen very quickly and leave Sony to produce another hardware while there's already so much invested in the PS3 (making little profit and the whole 1 year headstart from M$ who is also fighting for the hardcore). I would be happy if Sony just stuck with the PlayStation 3 and continue to lower the cost over time, throw out exclusive titles over and over like they have been since mid '08, grow with 1st party devs to make games of all genres and I'm sure over time the system will become cheaper to develop games for and hopefully be like it's older brother. Just wishfull thinking I guess....Nocturnal_SpeedI think you made some good points. The PS3 was designed to last a long time while the others will be upgradeing there systems with a newer system with the same basic hardware that is in the PS3 now.
The next-gen will start making debuts around 2011-2012 since PS3 was released its roughly around 6 years after PS2 was first released...
To be honest, I don't want to see it any time soon. Why spend another couple hundred dollars when there's nothing wrong with the PS3? Until developers actually reach the hardware limitations there's really no reason to put out the PS4.

I wonder when will a PS3 game takes up the entire Blu-ray disc 25GB (DL 50GB)
The 360's DL DVD format is pushing its limit now...any chance of Microsoft moving to Blu-ray ?

I've heard they are against it. I read some interview a few months after blu-ray won the format war and they said they probably wouldn't do it. I would post a link but I have no idea where it would be since it was so long ago. :?

I understand but maybe its because Sony started the development for it..Microsoft needs to create another new format if they want their next-gen to be "future-proof"

wouldn't that cost a fortune to develop a new disc format for strictly a "console". I know Sony jumped the gun by pushing out the Blu-Ray disc to win the disc war from HD-DVD and hoping to utilize the disc space for future games (if they haven't already). My guess Microsoft will have to buy a piece of the Blu-Ray disc rights or go strictly DD, which I'm sure gamers aren't ready for, atleast I hope not.[QUOTE="hunterseeker200"][QUOTE="Ospov"]

I think Microsoft is going to have to go the blu-ray route myself. DD only would lead to failure. The underpreforming PS2 did well for 6 years .....
MS will launch in 2011 with its new console
BUT Sony does not want to keep making consoles unless its for new tech.... I hope they think of new game play like Advanced AI, Voice recognition, Voice synthisis... so in game charters can talk without paying someone to read lines. ...Vastly improved Physics.... THIS is most important.
PS3 will at least last till 8 years that will take it to 2014, 10years will take it to 2016, it all depends if PS3 sells as well as PS2 did in 6 years if it sells 100 million and sales are still strong then I can see it going till 2016, with a really high powerd Game consoe.
