Yeah, I dunno. I guess that's what I get for buying from EB. :? Like I said, when you stand the box up and tit it from side to side the system kinda thumps back and forth. Should I take it back?EnderSR388
Over the way the unit was packaged?
I wouldn't.
This is a reliable system. I wouldn't worry too much about it.
I wouldnt worry about it, If you bought it at EB games they may have had the box open for whatever reason, to check the item before sale or whatnot, and its a pain in the a$$ to get that stuff packed back in exactly lke it was. Crank her up and she if she runs good!!

Yeah, I'm sure I'm just paranoid, but after shelling out over $600 I think I have the right to be, you know? Anyways, it kinda sucks that Sony doesn't include a component cable, just composite. You can't even enjoy HD with composite. I have my 360 connected with VGA and my HD cable box with component, so I have to go tonight and buy an HDMI cable before I can even play it!
Edit: on that note, you can still get audio through HDMI, right? I don't need to buy anything else? You know, because I have to use PC speakers (I had to buy just for that reason) for my 360 since I have it connected with VGA.

Yes you can play audio through the HDMI cable. When i got mine i just went and bought an HDMI cable and that's it. Everything else you need is in the box

worst.decision.evr buying a system from eb is like a buying gorceries from dollar store. dont do it again. best place is walmart. 90 day return policy ftw.
When Ibought mine. Iwas very suspcioius because on all the PS3 at target, the circle plastic clear tape was loose like it was alreaedy opened. But they told me that is how they came. THe tape didnt have any of the box ripped off of it and sticking too it. I examined my very carefully when opening it and there is no way it was ever touched by a human. Did anybody else notice that?NismoNissan41
The first time I bought my PS3 from walmart my tape was like, but with the box sticking to the tape! I ignored it knowing I would take my PS3 back if it seemed fishy... sure enough, when I opened my PS3, cables were already opened and the controller was in it's ripped plastic pouch. It was used. I was so pissed, I took it back and got me a NEW PS3. They apologized and what not, but talk about ruining your very first unboxing of a PS3, lol.

Naw. Best place is Best Buy.
Courteous, professional, fantastic.
I bought mine from Toys R Us.
There's something refreshing about waiting in line with a group of 6 year olds. With my purchase outpricing those of the next 20 customers combined. :D
like the system wasn't very secure in the box? I bought and 80gb last night and it's completely brand new, but it feels like the system kinda wobbles back and forth a little. I had the clerk check the others and he said it was they were the same way. Even the older 60gb seemed loose in the box. Is there not enough styrofoam in box or what? Will this effect the system adversly?EnderSR388
Mine was pretty secure, in fact I kept the packaging so I can put the PS3 back in the box when I moved from my apartment recently. Everything made it in one piece.

I tell you what, if I open my *new* PS3 and it looks like it's been used, I'm gonna be one hot potato! Especially since I paid $599 + tax for a used system.

Indeed, it was stuck in fine.
I'll be honest, I don't know if it's the system that's wobbling about in the box, but it sure feels like it. I can't think of anything else that would have that much weight in the box and not be the system. I'll open when I get home from work tonight and find out for sure. I just wanted to know if this was normal or if I just bought a used system at full price.
I thought mine was wonderfully packaged.
Weighed a ton too.
Felt nice and expensive!

I got a used one and it was all wobly in the box, hopefully you didn't just buy a used one at a new price. Some places like Bestbuy, EB, or gamestop, will do that every now and then.levi895
wouldn't that be illegal? and kinda hard to do to get a used system + a box and accessories and papers. unless it was a return rather than "used" as in a trade in alla Gamespot or Gamestop. Aren't returns still considered "new" if it's not damaged or flawed?

when i bought mine they told me to hold the bottom because earlier under the weight it fell out the bottom as they handed it over the top and it broke as it hit the desk. So sure enough i began to death grip my box on all sidesowskieThat's odd, I got one at launch and it goes back and forth between my house and my brother's place, it always get's placed in the original box it came in for transporting and the bottom has yet to give out on it.
my box was stuffed
it took 5 minutes just to take things out
it was very secure
It's probably because mine was one of the first
