Oh wow, I don't think that was a smart move. There is really no permanent way to fix the ylod, only a temporary fix.

You bought a broken ps3 and now you don't know where to take it to get fixed lol, someone should have done some planning.

Try looking in the yellowbook or online or something for places in your area that fix electronics and see if they'll be able to fix it, but there is no permanent fix for YLOD. Sony can't even fix which is why they give you a slim when you send in any of the launch models. If I were you I'd just send to sony for $120 (around $155 after tax and shipping) and they'll probably swap it for a slim.

there are companies in the US that fix consoles idk where they'd be at. if it doesn't work out the BD drive will probably net u $100.00 USD if it works.

Oh my goodness, I can't believe what you did! Truthfully, I did the SAME WAY as you are! I bought broken, opened 60GB PS3 for $75 and I sent it to Sony for $190. Now, I got a refurbished 60GB PS3 and it works perfectly so far!

Having a 60GB PS3 w/ full BC - $190+$75= $265

Buying brand-new Slim PS3 w/ no BC - $299 w/ tax =$310-ish

One problem... 60GBs are only better in one aspect... the slim is the better "overall" system... less energy used, optical sound, less noise and more durable. Plus I would rather spend the extra cash in buying a NEW system over a refurbished one
