Where will the PS3 be in 3 years

So when u look at the future, Where do u think the PS3 will stand 3 years from now? Do u think it will be the leader in this "console war"? or what features will be added to the ps3, and what games?

Let me know your opinion :)

Assuming that sony hasnt come out with a version of PS4 or whatever they will call it, I would have to think they will have a big edge by then...I read in a Game Informer that the graphics of the PS3 can increase 90 percent over a firmware update...True or not, the possibility is possible lol...

Well Sony said that the ps3 will be a long term console. So that made me wonder what people will think how the PS3 devolops in 3 years time.

Ofcoarse we "think" that the ps3 makes a major turn in the end with sales and price drops. atleast we hope :)

Within the next 3 years developers will have no problem with PS3 development and games will look even better then now and PS3 will be highly praised system, also people will realise that it can reach the level of PS2.

think it might be even true that we will still wait for FF XIII,

But what about the new firmware features? Does anyone think what we get. For instance i live in Europe so we could use all the TV features and movie features like US aswell, but i think that will not happen

it will still be in my living room only difference is maybe by then ill have a 60" tv instead of my 42". And of course there will be more games.....

Its a long term console and its been designed to last that blu-ray drive is gonna save us soooo much of money. And once again M$ will set out with another console (HOPEFULLY Sony wont let them have blu-ray) and that will probaly have equal graphics qualities.

Btw why does everyone say MGS5!? Kojima said he wont make any more games in the series but will make a new game like MGS... what should we call it? Well i guess there is nothing else other than MGS5. AND (*touchwood*) M$ WILL NOT PORT IT TO THEIR CONSOLE!

In 3 years PS3 will be in 2nd place / winner of the HD wars...

We will also be awaiting the recently annouced PS4 which will include:
**4gb RAM,(2gb CPU, 2gb Video)
16x blu-ray drive,
250gb HDD or SSD,
CELL 2 BE (6Ghz with 2x SPE(1 reserve for SONY) and 12x SPE(devs use), 3xSPE(SONY reserve), 1x SPE(redundancy)
GPU based off GeForce 10 or 11 series.

... I agree with some of that. 4gb of RAM is alot to ask for... even current computers dont have that! And dvd has been around for a while and i think they have 12x max atm... I rekon ur right i would luv a SSD and it would definately make it smaller. And that CELL 2 procesor u tlk about is... crazy! that would be a huge console... It wont beat the Wii in 3 years thats all i know coz ppl will still want a nice cheap console... thats if nintendo doesnt run out of ideas for games (think about it as the eyetoy... it ran out of ideas within 3 years...)

It will be the best console to date. It will be like PS2 back in 2005.

With Blu-ray become the standard movie playback even some of the hardcore xbox 360 fanboys will probably buy the ps3 just because of that

and if good games keep coming out it's going to be hard not to want to buy one

It's going to be the games that make the system popular

I can see it becoming extremely popular if more games are released like PS2 has some amazing titles come out of nowhere

I think as more and more people make the switch from dvd to blu-ray, sales of the ps3 will grow quickly. Especially when sony drops the price. Devs are getting more used to the Ps3, so games will be better. Firmware updates will make it more appealing to the non-hardcore gamer(that, and a price drop).

I really do think ps3 will eventually come out on top of the console wars. The wii will eventually loose the interest of the non-gameing community that currently supports its sales. And most people who want an x-box, have an x-box, and their sales will slowly start to fall. Ps3 on the other hand has no where to go but up.

As far as games, we will probably won't be playing the next Metal Gear(not solid), but it will be coming within the next year or 2. We will hopefully be awaiting the FFVII remake(which will sell ALOT of systems). Hopefully a decent rpg selection by this time. More MGS4 quality games, or at least much higher quality games.

The ps3 is supposed to have a 10 year life, and the ps4 will probably be relaesed 2 or 3 years before that putting it in 2013/14. So we will probably be getting the first bits of info in 3 years.

PSP2 might be here, or close, which will most likly have evan more remote play option with the ps3(and 4 when it arrives)

I can see the PS3 reigning supreme, doing a WHOLE lot better, with more exclusives coming out and other great games, while consumers will be also very happy about the system...I don't like to compare it to the Wii cause only grandma's and babies play that system so i'll definitely be saying that it will blow the 360 out of the waters by the end of 09' no problem, the gap will be very close by the end of 08' during the Winter holiday. Other than that, Blu-ray will become popular as well and people all around the world will be interested to buy a Blu-ray player (a.k.a PS3).

Running at maybe close to 80% by then :P. "Oddly true thow" Killzone 2 may just look like like ps2 graphics. 360 will still do the same stuff it does now.


But also this will only be seen on games that are on multi's. This whole gen, will not go as far as it could have. Do to multis having to run like they were made in 1999. It will be know for the gen that staled gaming, do to hardware fighting.

It will also be know as the gen, that took the smallest jumps forward. Again due to hardware arguments. And having to deaden games for weaker hardware and low memory.

But it will have the bright side of bringing motion into gaming again. And innovation Wii like. Buts that about it.

In the next three years i'll probably take a backseat to gaming, and play FFXIV when i do,

but the PS3 will win and the Elitist Cows will claim ownage.
