I see the Vita is barely outselling the PSP and DS, is Sony hinting at any price drops? You're not going to get a lot of dev support with a small install base

Actually Vita sales have been up for the past month and Sony said they expected only about 2.5 million to sell so far (which it has). Also they've said digital software sales have been good, just remember only retail copys are tracked, not digital. So I don't see them dropping the price anytime soon for the Vita since it's been preforiming to their expectations.

Those statements from Sony sound like weak attempts to placate their shareholders - they were always going for 10 million Vitas sold this year, and at their current rate of 600k a month they won't hit that any time soon. Heck, in Japan the PSP is currently outselling the Vita on a weekly basis. Having said that, there have been so many promotional deals for buying a Vita that they're obviously doing everything they can except for an official price drop, from including two free games, a free game and a starter kit, $50 gift cards, etc. Some of these have been retailer based, of course, but as almost every store who sells the Vita has been implementing them I'm sure some of the cost of those deals is being carried by Sony themselves.

Nobody ever said there would in fact be a price drop, we gamers have just been hoping for one because of the logical fact that game companies usually have price cuts or price sales around the Holidays and the Vita needs more sales and exposure.

If there is a price drop or a sale expect it either over the Holidays or after the system has been out for a year or so.

I dunno, that's what people said about the 3DS and a few weeks later we had a massive $80 price drop. Especially as the Vita has already had a number of game + memory card + case bundles, or two game bundles in some cases. And heck, when I got mine a couple of retailers were even doing trade-in deals that amounted to getting $50 of credit for used games that weren't worth half that. I paid $50 for my Vita and $65 for my 32GB memory card as a result, by trading in a handful of games that could be bought new for $20.

I read an interview with the Sony president on Game Informer; he said there wouldn't be a price drop anytime soon.

WHERE IS YOUR PRICE DROP NOW? MUHAHAHAHAHA!!!

(Sorry, had to do that.)

But idk, I've heard so many people in the game industry say one thing and do another now... I remember how Nintendo got done saying there would be no new iterations of the 3DS anytime soon, and that there was no XL version of the 3DS in the works. Then, like a day or two later, "3DS XL announced."

So maybe Sony is just trying to bluff us and see if they can get more sales before they decide to drop the price. Who knows. Like I've been saying, all you can do is wait and see if there's any sort of price-drop this Holiday, or around the system's 1-year-anniversary in February. There might not be. But maybe there will be a sale at some retailer that includes a free game or memory card that you can take advantage of.

If Sony would just cut the price of those propriety PSvita memory cards. I would be fine with that.

The Price of the PSvita system is fair, As is the price of the PSvita games. Those memory cards pricing just is distrusting/disgusting since 4GB,8GB,16GB,32GB comparable SD cards are way cheaper than what Sony offers.

That is my only complaint regarding the PSvita. So a price drop on the PSvita memory cards would be nice.

I'm personally waiting for a bundle deal as well, I want a memory card, and a game. That Assassin's creed bundle would be mine, but it lacks a memory card, and I kinda dislike the proprietary cables/memory the Vita uses.

I don't think the Vita really needs a price drop, but the memory cards are pretty disgustingly overpriced.

This. I bought my 32gb card used on eBay for under 70. I don't normally buy used but I didn't want to support Sony's price gouging. I also found my vita on eBay for $200 brand new, no tax or shipping. So there deals to be had without an official price drop. You just have to be a savy shopper and know where look.

Yeah, I think most of us can agree that the memory cards are just too overpriced. For now I'm cool with my 4GB of memory, and I'm hoping that will last until there is some sort of price cut or deal on the memory cards so I can get a much better one. I'm just not sure quite how much this will hold when all is said and done.

There was a massive summer price drop for sites in England.

The Vita went from £199.99 to £167.99, all the big online retailers dropped the price hard, i posted a topic with an article and places u could buy it :P
