A HD component cable (not gold) or a gold HDMI-DVI cable for a 1080i tv?

1) If you have a HDMI port on your television, I reccommend using that. HDMI is pure digital signal. Component cables are excellent as well, but are analog.
2) The price on many "high-end" cables do tend to be for the name (i.e Monster) rather than quality. However, many "cheap" cables tend to have less shielding, and some don't maintain quality as long.
I still don't understand why some folks will pay hundreds of dollars on a game system, then buy a cable at the 99 cent store. First thing they wind up complaining about is that Sony system is crap cause they bought a crappy cable.
my tv only has a DVI input so I brought a HDMI-DVI cable for ps3. HD component still looks great but will HDMI-DVI look any better?yoshiwonderlandDVI is as good as HDMI except that the audio is run through a different channel (i.e composite cable, optical).
I echo the sentiments of most of the previous posters, the HDMI is going to be such a step up from the others that you will notice the difference. I personally feel that the step up is much less between the "high end" HDMI cables and the lower end ones. SHort answer: go with HDMI if you can.
