In my opinion, it ultimately comes down to controller preference.  For sports titles, the Playstation controller has always felt much better to me than the Xbox controller.  That being said, up to this point, the Xbox 360 version of sports titles (for the most part) have been slightly superior to the PS3 version because of framerate issues.  I don't believe this will be the case with the next batch of titles, though.  As I said, it really depends on controller preference.  If you've never played a PS3 or Xbox360 and don't have any friends that own one to test drive, find a retail store somewhere that lets you play both systems.  Determine which controller feels better to you.

Ahh the age old question. I'm quite the sporting gamer myself, routinely throwing wads of cash for the annual update of Madden and countless other EA sports titles, so here's my honest opinion. The question you have to ask yourself, is do you want the system that will have better sports games at this moment? Or in the future. If you're looking for the immediate answer, the answer is 360 (at this point). Personally, I ended up buying a PS3 at it's launch date (some would call me foolish), but I was looking ahead. My roommate has a 360, and of course, the release games ran a lot smoother on the 360 (games I used for comparison were NCAA 2008, Fight Night Round 3, Madden 2008.). It just seems that at this point, the developers are used to the 360 hardware, and programming has been a lot more stable for this platform. Mind you, this will change with time. The more recent incarnations of games that are showing up on both platforms have been pretty even (both in graphics, and framerate). So the question you have to ask yourself is "Am I buying the game system to play the best sports games at this moment?" or are you buying it for lasting appeal down the line. I don't want to start a console war, but I honestly feel that once developers become more comfortable with development for the PS3, the games will run on par, if not better than their 360 counterparts. But to be completely honest, at this point it seems the 360 has the edge...

I would say PS3 cos im used to using a playstation controller. I have played some sport games on 360 and i just wasn't used to the controller.

It all depends on which controller your used to using.

At the moment the ajority of sports titles ae better on 360.

But once devs get used to ps they should at least be even.

i think the question you need to ask yourself is which console has the games i lik other than sports titles as 90% of sports titles will be on both systems so you really need to check out games from other genres you like and see which system has the better games for you now and in the future.

Also i think posing this in the ps3 forum is a mistake it wil either get locked or 90% of the replys will be biased fangirls replys so you wont get an honest opinion, although most of the comments so far have been helpful and true.

I dont think the controller is an issue, its not like he 360/ps3 has a controller like the gc thats just akwardthere both good contrllers that feel good and work great for gaming, theyare very simialr.

IMO i'd say the 360 controller is better because of the proper triggers whichmake it better fr shooters and racers, but i can move from one system to another and play easily.

The both have very simialr layouts and the excat same amount of buttons, contoller really snot an issue IMO.

EA sports has announced that all future PS3 games will be in 60fps. It happened on FIFA and I don't see why they wouldn't keep this promise. They have gotten slammed for the 30fps and it seems like they got their issues worked out. Going forward I would think equal to PS3 having the edge - why simply because of the ability to hold much more data...

From a fiscal standpoint I would say 360 since the price drops are a lot lower than PS3's sports titles.

I can't stand the 360 triggers.

Anyway what do I care I have a Wii the console where all sports games are rubbish. (Fifa is the only sport game i would play anyway).

Also it doesn't matter what console you have since all the sport games cost the same on every console. e.g. PS3, XBOX 360, and Wii ones are all the same price even though the PS3 and 360 ones are way better.

I think you answered your question, right?  You can't stand the 360 triggers, then the PS3 it is.  Done and Done.

Both consoles are great for sports games. No need to argue or turn this thread into another unnecessary childish topic.

well see it is like this 360 edge for most ea sports games

but the ps 3 has first party sports games as well. like the basket ball game, gretzy hockey game dated sometime this year i believe and more to come.

also if you put racing with sports you also get gt5, motorstorm 1-2.

if you only play ea sports games yes RIGHT NOW the 360 is better.

Unless you are totally about madden this year and this year only

PS3 FTW, online is free and sports games, like shooters, are all about online

360 is injury prone

The ps3 controller will feel better than the xbox controller for sure

madden's framrate isbetter on the xboxthis year but bynext year theyll be the same all the other sports games look exactly the same i have madden and i cant tell much of a difference and i think nhl 08 looks better on ps3
