If you have GOW1 & 2 for PS2 then you don't need The GOW Collection for the PS3, but if you are like me and don't then the GOW Collection is the way to go.

Since you've never owned the GoW games before, you should definitely get that. Get AC2 later (Ubisoft games go down in price pretty fast, so you'll save money anyway).

GoW Collection. You're gonna want to play GoW 3, so you might as well know what's going on.

From personal experience, I've beat GOW 1 & 2 in under 15 hours put together. I've put that much time in Assassins Creed 2( no side mission) and already have more than that, and I'm only 1/4 through the game. I think Assassins Creed will last you longer

Most people aren't going to beat the God of War games in 7-8 hours each their first time through, unless they're deliberately rushing. Typically, they take 10-12 hours each.

With so much positive feedback all over about the GOW collection, I may have to put it on the Xmas list.

Tough choice man. They're both good games. I would go with GoWC, not only you get 2 amazing games, it's cheaper too.

Even with that though, I think Assassins Creed would be the better choice because of the amount of content in the game. I love GoW as much as the next guy, but Assassins Creed is more bang for your buck.

Assassin's Creed 2 is a 30ish hour game (according to most people who have finished it, anyway) for $60. God of War Collection is a 20ish hour game for $40. I'm not sure AC is necessarily "more bang for your buck." It will be, once it drops in price in a few months, as Ubisoft games always do - which is all the more reason for the OP to buy GoW now, and AC later.

I can say the main quest is 30 hours, but to find all feathers, glyphs, platinum, fully upgrade your villa, for me is roughly 60 hours. I guess everyone is different. In all honest, he can't go wrong with either

If it was me I would choose GoW, cos I have a strong feeling that AC2 will come to PC in the near future.:)

As someone mentioned, Ubisoft games tend to drop in price qute rapidly. Get GOW Collection, ESPECIALLY since you haven't played either of the first two, and you'd definitely want to check out GOWIII this coming March 2010. AC2 is a good game, but GOW Collection offers you two of the best games of last generation for a lower price than AC2 alone. GOW titles also have very high replay value : AC2 suffers in that department. Just like AC1, once you beat the game, there is little incentive to go back and play from the very beginning, and even if you have incentive, GOW Collection will give you much more in replayability (increasing difficulties, challenge modes, unlockables and secrets) superior to even the best single-player only games of this generation. Both are great choices however, and I would eventually get both down the line.
