Latley a lot of games have been coming out and they have the recharge system, and leaving the old system of going and picking up healh behind, which do you all prefer.

I personally like them both, if its super fast paced i tend to prefer the recharge system, i think they both have their good points

among action games, my personal favorite was MGS3.

food, instead of restoring your health, restored your stamina which helped your health regeneration.

Games overall, my favorite style of heatlh sytem is RPG style. Numbers and potions are way to go.

Numeric > Visual

Regeneration is only wanted for action games imo, where youwould otherwise get stuck just for taking an unlucky hit near a checkpoint.

I personally like the get health system because it makes the game more challenging. Nothing like playing resident evil when anything can take you out with one hit because your health is so low and you are trying to find health. Just makes everything so much more intense.

Now for real-life games i.e. WWII games or fps games I think active recharge or like COD3 does health is spot on.

For shooters, I kinda liked the way they handled it in Resistance. You have a automatic regen, but only to a certain point, then you pick up health to fill it all the way up. Can't just duck for 2 seconds and be fully healed, but you can get a little boost to survive long enough to find some health.

I find ducking to recharge fully ala Rainbow six: Vegas a little unrealistic. It would be okay if it was a sci fi game like Gears/Resistance. It needs to suit the context of the game. some kind of burry effect or red screen until you get a health pack would be better.

I thought the getaway had a good health system, you had to go againts wall and lean on it, there was no health bar or anything, you could see if your hurt by the way u are walking and u would have blood on your arms, belly ect.ect.

Have you played on realistic? That's how Vegas is meant to be played. If you're in a position where you take one shot, you ususally take enough to be killed.

I probably wouldn't get past the first level on that setting. Lol.

Definitely the Resistance way for shooters. It only regenerates to a certain degree making you think twice how much damage you should take.

If it was a full regeneration, it kind makes things less harder as you know you can go all the way out and in the last moment wait until you're fully healed.

Partial regeneration is nice touch.

On the other side MGS3 health system is very cool. For this type of games searching for food was a great idea. A bit of a pain but much more realistic. You feel a need to survive.

Collecting health could still work on some games I guess, as long as it's not on every corner for pick-up ;)

Yea it really adds to the realism everytime you turn a corner. lol

The few enemy snipers that are in the game are ridiculously deadly.

I liked Resistance health system as well because it included best of both worlds, regeneration and health tubes(packs). You would have 4 life bars and you could grab health tubes to replenish any you have lost during the fight. Each life bar regenerated though if you hid behind cover long enough, which was an also plus. Trying the game on Hard mode is a challenge when you can die so easily and enemies take forever to die. That's what I'm doing right now and you then appreciate every weapon you got unlike normal mode. I unload tons more rounds this way and still loose health like crazy. As I mentioned before I love Resistance health system.

for fps's i prefer the full recharge system(r6:vegas style) but it changes a lot in genres. fps's need an immediate visual representation of the damage you taking. its an ADD genre and i shouldnt be staring at numbers and health bars. thisobviously wouldnt go over well in an rpg where numbers and statistics are preferred.

I prefer the old school pick-ups. It just seems like everyone switched styles for whatever reason. My gameplay strategy is quite different depending on the the meathod of health regeneration.

I like the new health system.. No health bar, just viusal indication. Getting shot screen goes blur and getting hit too much or a head shot, dead. The regeneration feels like cheating a bit but it does add to the intensity of the game. Resistance and R6 have pretty good health systems.
