I finished GoW3 yesterday. While I think it was a great game, I don't think it was better than 2. I think GoW2 nailed everything a GoW game should do. It's amazing CoO even exists, the other games are great too, but GoW2 will always be my favorite. What do you think?
I've only played the 1st and 2nd one, so my opinion is somewhat limited. The 2nd was just miles better than the 1st for me. Everything about it was just so much smoother and less frustrating. I actually enjoyed it. I'll eventually play Chains and GOW3 though, so we'll see.
I liked 1 the best. I didn't like 2 very much because it seems like they didn't polish it enough. All the items sounded the same what was that all about. Not only that it relied on to many stupid and frustrating puzzles.
its a tough call. theres so many moments that im referring to in my head that remind just how awesome this series has been.
probably 2. the story was the best. everything fit together well. i wouldve said 3, but the ending and all the unresolved questions make it take a backseat to 2.
I think 3 wins by a little bit. The combat is so much more enjoyable IMO. IF it werent for the lame ending and having to revisit some place 2-3 times it would wipe the floor with 1 and 2 for me even though I love both of those games aswell.
I still dont understand why people liked God of War 2 most? If I had to choose between the two, it would easily be God of War 1. But after playing three...
They're all great. The first was great because the series was fresh and I didn't really know what I was getting myself into. The second one was probably the best in terms of refining the gameplay and story. The third is nice, but definitely lacks a few features and to be honest I wish they would have gotten a bit more creative. For me
GOW2>GOW1>GOW3 but I'm not knocking 3, they're all must plays.
I managed to re-play GoW1 and GoW2 on the PS3 via importing a copy a few months ago and I had forgotten what a blast they both were. Having just completed GoW3, I think that it's the best of the trilogy. Whilst the story isn't as strong as GoW1, I think that the general gameplay, polish and combat in GoW3 make it the winner. This time around, the battles and bosses seemed to be on a more immense scale and simple button smashing didn't help me beat it. I had to employ tactics, dodge more, block more and make sure I was using the right weapon at the right time. Haven't ever felt so hyped playing a game in years. I thought it was awesome and a fitting end for series.

Same. Although the cestes in GOW3 is my favourite weapon, I enjoyed gow2's action more. Plus it was longer and more varied in gameplay
I loved GoW III. I enjoyed it a lot more than the 2nd. I loved seeing all of the gods also and just how the game flowed really. Some of the things Kratos did was a bit irrational to me, but he is Kratos, it's part of who he is. I loved the graphics, amazing. I loved the story. I loved fighting the different gods, especially Poseidon. It was exciting to see how early in the game you actually fight him. The cinematics were off the charts, although I do enjoy games that have cinematic cutscenes using better graphics than what are used during gameply, like in the original GoW. The first God of War would have to be my favorite. Just going on this journey from man to god is insane. Fighting a an actual god and killing him was just out of this world. Being killed by a god as you're about to open pandora's box was one of the coolest scenes in the game. Pandora's temple was exceptionally brilliant and without a doubt amazing to see on top of Kronos, expecially seeing how big the titan is in the desert. Everything about it I enjoyed. The story, everything. The whole series is my favorite for the Playstation consoles.
