Poll Which hard drive do you have for your PS4? (49 votes)

The stock 500GB drive 57%
1 TB drive 20%
2 TB drive 18%
Something else? 2%

My 2 TB drive came today. It's all cozy in my PS4 now. Considering how big games are this gen in terms of storage, I think it's essential to have a 2 TB drive. After just 11 games being installed on my 500GB drive, I only had ~45GB left. Screw that.

The one it came with. I have no plans on upgrading either as I just delete the games I'm not using.

I've got a 1TB in it now, but I'm in the process of upgrading it to 2TB. The 1TB filled up pretty quick with the giant install sizes.

I could have just deleted and re-installed games I guess, but if they are digital they take forever to download again. Of course right now I am in hour 10 of an 11 hour back up to a USB 3.0 drive and if it takes this long to restore onto the new drive, re-downloading the games might have been quicker.

Have the 500 GB hard drive at the moment. I'm going to end up needing to buy another one (more capacity of course) in the near future.

I upgraded to 1 TB when the PS4 was released and I'm good for now. Personally, I would love to have 2 or 4GB however price wise there aren't a good purchase choice right now. Maybe next time when the price of 2TB drops down.

No, 12TB of external 3.5" HDD's in RAID.

I wont get all of it though, maybe half of it, the other computers and family get the rest of the space.

Gonna work with the default 500GB for as long as possible. I tend not to return to games I've gone through and done everything I wanted to do very often, so finding game installs to delete shouldn't be an issue down the road. Just as long as I don't start filling up on digital titles, my storage space is easily replaceable. Huge game patches kind of mess with that too, but oh well.

2TB here. Anything less won't cut it for me. If you have a 500GB and have some extra cash, don't hesitate. Biggest hassle was updating games after re-instal (one day they took forever, next day they went by super fast) but after you're set up, it's all golden.

It's all nice and easy to say just uninstall what you don't play but seriously, it can be a pain to reinstall and update. After my upgrade the 3GB update to Rocket League took what seemed like 10 hours (yeah, I was pretty happy about that) but the next day the 12GB BOP3 took a little over an hour - search slow PSN downloads to read other rant about it.

It's a damn shame Sony didn't provide a larger HDD off the top or at least sell a larger HDD themselves - I would have rather purchased one directly from them. Seems their marketing skills are in need of some serious help.

I agree. Given how massive install sizes are this gen, Sony should have at least had a 1TB drive as the default. I had to upgrade after having just ten or eleven games installed on my PS4, leaving me with just 45GB left. I know I'm gonna get more games over the years, so I just decided to go straight to 2TB. I've had enough of deleting game data to play other games. I do that enough on my PS3. I don't want to do that on my PS4, at least not after having it for just over a month now.

1TB drive. When they make 2TB+ SSHDs that fit in the PS4, I'll upgrade.

I upgraded my HDD from the stock 500gb to 1 TB earlier this year. Space wasn't an issue for me anyway, as i don't tend to keep a lot of games stored on the HDD. Normally, i play a game and when it's done, i delete it once i've backed up the saves. 1 TB is plenty for me, i don't see myself upgrading to a larger one further down the line.

Put in a 1tb because they are cheap. Games eat a lot of space this gen. Given a have a bandwidth cap monthly I hate to have to redownload anything...

I have a 2tb 7200rpm 6gb/s hdd for my ps4 and I use the data bank by nyko. The hard drive was insanely cheap only $50 but it was refurbished but still works fine.

Still using the default harddrive, see no need in upgrading because I usually delete the games I've completed/platinum, I usually always have at least 150gbs free space all the time.

@oi_oi_spanky: I Still have my 500GB HDD with P.T. on it...

If i wanted to, I could Swap it for the 2TB HDD currently installed, and Play P.T...

Totally Worth the upgrade in Storage...

2TB Samsung. Just got sick of deleting, and then reinstalling. Reinstalling from disc is fine, but you have to redownload any patches prior to play. Wish Sony would have it where when you delete it gives you the option to delete but keep any downloads for the game there.
Sony downloads are slow even on NBN speed. 4GB on PS4 can take anywhere from 4-6 hours sometimes. On Steam 4GB takes an average of 10-20 minutes. Spoke to Sony and they said it's my ISP, yet how come Steam is quick?
This is the only reason I upgraded to a larger HDD.

The 500GB hard drive that came with it, I have a 1TB but it's in my PS3 at the moment. Might end up switching it out for it later on if I run outta space.

The console doesn't have enough released yet (not available on other platforms) for me to have hit/exceeded the 500gb drive so I am still using it.

The only thing that stinks about upgrading hard drives is having to download everything again. I upgraded to 1TB and won't upgrade again unless psn upgrades speeds. I have 50mbp/s connection and PSN caps everyone at 20mbp/s. LOL, you would think since we pay 50 dollars a year for online they would uncap the speeds to download off their servers.

Stock 500GB, I've only had my PS4 for nearly 6 months and I'm still wary about cracking it open as I KNOW I will break something. This is coming from someone who has built PCs as well
