I say Resistance offers more, but Motorstorm looks better graphically and does have HUGE fun factor it's just a bit shallow, but all around Resistance takes it. It's got great story, great online, fun, cool weapons, great AI and it's not too easy.
Honestly, the PS3 has sold this much because of the brand and not any of the games. The first true system sellers that are exclusive are probably going to be Ratchet 5, Uncharted, and MGS4.
If you ask me, neither of them are a system seller. Though if i had to choose, I'd pick resistance. It does have some unique fun parts like killing a stalker, but overall its just above average. Motorstorm is just too shallow to be a system seller. The racing itself just isn't as fun as say initial d or burnout. Even though it really doesn't appeal to me, the first true system seller will probably be lair. Even xbox 360 fanboys are craving over it. I'm just waiting for metal gear solid 4 myself. Only reason i needed to buy the system a few months ago.

Resistence only shows the power of PS3's online capabilities and its set in 1950 ?? so all the graphics are good but the color scheme does not give the essense of sharpness and awesomeness ... I found the colors pretty dull ...however I can garantee you that the single player is definitely beter than HALO's single player. Also since the Maps are HUGE they should have used vehicles.
i didnt like resistance at all. and i didnt like motor storm at all. what got me to purchase the ps3 is of course the blue ray and i'm waiting on metal gear solid.

I have both of these games and honestly if you have online access with yoru PS3 then both games are highly recommended they are so fun online, especially motorstorm! definetly a fair rating from ign (8.9)

they did use vehicles, there was a tank, jeep, and stalker in several lvls
neither, I play NBA 2k7 virtua tennis 3 and MLB the show more than I play resistance. After i beat it and fooled around with the online functionality I put it away.

I love how some people can, with absolutely no attention to the rules of the English language, be so adamant about a subjective topic. Where are the published guidelines or criteria for a "system seller" or a "killer app?" These are all subjective phrases that, at this time, mean different things to different people, which is one of the reason there are meaningless debates on the subject. If there are no established objective meanings for these phrases you toss around you should at least be kind enough to provide your own definitions. This way the audience can better evaluate what they are reading. One last thing before I forever escape from the bog that is your ignorance, please do not use an ellipsis if you do not know how to use one. Resistance is a great game, deserved a better score than what it had here. IMO, if any of those games is to be considered a system seller, Resistance is the one, hands down.
I agree that there are alot of games that made me want to get a PS3 but one game could possibly sell a system. I would probably of bought the PS3 just for MGS4 lol That is my favorite game series and would be worth it. But there are tons of other games to sell the system. In terms of a system seller now, Motor Storm and resistence are both good but resistence is better IMO. Plus lets not forget about oblivion. Get resistence and then get oblivion lol
i wouldnt call eitehr a system seller, but motorstorm is more so then R:fom, R:fom was a launch game and got but with or for the system, no one went out and said oh i want this game and then got the system, with motorstorm it had lots of hype and came months after the systems launch and made a few people want the system, but agian most of the people with the system didnt buy it for that, instead they bought the game to hold them over, now MGS4 is a system seller i personally hate the MGS games but they are system sellers
