I have the value pack and I myself dont use any of the extra stuff.

Get a base back. And a logitech protective case. Nothing is of much use in the value pack.

i hate logitech playgear pocket, it doesn't really protect ur psp, what it does is, it acts as a basic protector and also a hard case when you want to put into ur pocket or bag. i myself prefer blackhorn's crystal casing and maybe a soft case if i were to carry it around, the crystal case doesn't require you to open it to play. oh...the value pack's items aren't needed but things like cloth is useful if ur psp gets finger prints on. might as well get a basic pack+screen protector and a ms

The Crystal case is not gonna protect the psp in any way. A good 4 feet fall and its history. A full body with rubber protection is obviously better. Playgear pocket or playgear sports (is that what its called) is better in protecting the psp.

I would not take a chance with my psp; one mistake and its doomed.

This is exatly what i did and i bought the things i really needed. Hard case, memory stick and the thing that makes holding the psp like a controller.

as i said playgear pocket need to open up the thing to play, crystal casing don't, making chances of getting scratches on ur psp much lesser.people with sweaty palm are better off with a crystal case.i dun see why playgear would offer more protection

Wat??? I have playgear pocket and that think has dropped from 5 feet out of my hands on to the cement sidewalk, while I was listening to an mp3 player.  Many people on campus saw it but I wasnt worried at all as i just plugged in my headphones and kept walking. Also I work at a movie theater and keep my psp in my pocket with the playgear and have bump, knocked, slammed it against everything and it still is going strong.  So what you have to OPEN the case.  i rather have to open a case that I fully trust that will keep my psp safe.

As for you thread which is better? I would just get a psp used from ebay or ebgames.  but if you had to get one new then the smaller pack so you could save money.

the core pack, the one that comes with just the system, battery, and ac plug. which is the best value the other accessories are cheap to get .
