Comparing 3D fighting game with 2D fighting game is like comparing a 3rd person shooter with a FPS.

Picked up SF4 yesterday since I found used for $16..

Am I the only one that did not enjoy sf4? Playing 3-d game most of my life 2-d seemed way too limited for me. And omg SETH AHHHHHHH...

Been playing tekken all day...

So I pick tekken...

me too, I hate the SF games. For some reason, I just hate 2d fighters. I always get my ass whooped. The only 2d fighter I like is BlazBlue. To me, the perfect fighting game is probably Soul Caliber... or Dead Or Alive. One of those. I would choose tekken anyday over SF4 tho.

Yea 2D fighting and 3D fighting are different even though they both are technically fighting games. I love both games btw.

ive liked soul calibur since dc and then with link on gc. i heard the tekken 6 models were so huge on screen it made the action slow and dull... i didnt try sf but id get that and sc4 whenever i can... i always liked Soul Calibur stuff, just so... tangible and feels so right

I love the SFIV, but some characters are charged based which is holding the directional pad on one directionfor a set period of tie then making your move, and it is really annoying becuaseI just can't get the hang of them becuase its time based. I love SF though, but this limits me to using half the characters.

personally i like street fighter games more because their characters are more over the top and so are all their super and ultra moves so its just alot more fun for me.

I think most people either enjoy one or the other, not very often both. They are really different games that you have to take a different approach to. Personally, I have never enjoyed the Tekken games but am a hardcore SF fan and of 2d fighters in general. I don't like the fact that you can pretty much button mash and come away a winner, whereas that's not going to happen as often in a SF game.

3D fighting games suck compared 2d fighters. 3D fighters r slow and the mechanics r flawed. maybe we just suck, but when we play 3d fighters, it always feels like just press buttons to deplete ur opponen'st health. dont tet me wrong 3d fighters arent bad

Doesn't matter. BlazBlue would just come over from the next room and knock the victor out senseless. :D But really, rent Tekken and see if you like it. If you do, then buy it and wait for Super Street Fighter IV. If you don't then pick up Street Fighter IV for cheap.

Tekken 6 all the way. SF4 is a dire game to say the least. I grew up on SF2 and have owned every iteration (on home consoles) since, naturally I pre-ordered SF4 but it's an awful game with broken characters & AI. Scoul alibur used to be a good game but Namco stripped all of what gave the Soul series it's longevity when they made SC4 & there were way too many cheap players online too (Taki, Zasalamel & Knightmare being the cheap favourites). Hopefully they do a better job on Tekken 6, I still play Tekken 5 DRO every week (had it nearly 2 years) so I'm looking forward to Tekken 6's release on Friday.

Depends on your taste in fighting games. Both should be worth a rental. There are also Soul Calibur 4, Blazblue, MVC2, Virtua Fighter 5, etc, etc.
