I ask, as someone who plans to buy a PS3 and a bunch of games, play them and then sell all of it when I am done. I want to experience the best the PS3 has to offer in that period of time. Multiplayer means very little to me, since I want to play many games and not be stuck with one for a longer period of time. I used to love consoles when I was a kid, N64 especially with classics such as Goldeneye, Mario64, Donkey Kong, Perfect Dark etc, and I want to know from you guys which PS3 games you believe will be remembered fondly in 10 years by the kids of this generation. All I ask is that the games pointed out are not available on PC, but are console only.

MGS4 is the only one that comes to mind as a game that will most likely be remembered 10 yrs from now.. however, games that won't be too famous but will probably be worth some cash 10 years from now might include: Demon's Souls Valkyria Chronicles The Last Guardian. Of course I'm guessing...but I think it will be likely.

Hmm, that's better than what the xbox'ers could do so far. Of course, I am going to pass on MGS4 because I haven't played a console shooter since Goldeneye, and it's a nightmare to aim without a mouse after all this time. Demon's Souls is already on my list, and I will have a look at the other one.

MGS4 doesn't require much aiming, actually. It's nothing like Goldeneye. And, honestly, this game is worth playing not for the action, but the story.

You sure about that xbox comment Fanboy? I can name a few, but this is a PS3 board. So far, I think MGS4 is a given. Personally, I will remember Uncharted/Uncharted 2 ten years from now.

What, I am a fanboy now? I haven't owned a console since Nintendo 64, and I wrote this exact thread on both XBOX and PS3 forums, and somehow I am a fanboy for pointing out that the best the XBOX forum can come up with are driving games, slow-paced, rehashed shooters and even MORE mindless "open world" gangster games that I could play with my legs tied in a knot behind the chair I am sitting on, controlling the stick with my teeth and mashing buttons with my left elbow? That's some marvelous logic right there buddy. At least this forum was able to spit out at least one game(Demon's Soul's) that seems to have some thought and guts put into it.

If you don't like FPS, Then maybe the GoW series? Uncharted is GREAT, But its a shooter. But MGS isn't really a shooter, more stealth/action. With a gun. Haha. Hmmmm..... Little Big Planet is good, MAYBE Modnation Racers since you mention you liked Mario Kart. The Ratchet And Clank series is also a GREAT game. Kinda for young audiences with it's corny humor and such. But it's fun and some what challengning. Hope this gives some ideas

It seems he's interested in getting one or the other.

Obviously the heavy-hitters like Uncharted 2, GOW3, and Heavy Rain.

I'd want to say Valkyria Chronicles, but the masses won't remember that game. People don't even give it enough attention now.

MGS4

LBP

UC2

GoWIII

also probably KZ2 and others lol. idk, kind of a silly question since many games that people love ten years ago are remembered now. Really not THAT hard to be remembered. Sells a lot and bam its remembered.

If you're going to get a PS3 (or any console for that matter), you should be in it for the long haul. The games are only going to get better and better the further we get into this generation. The absolute best games usually come towards the end of a console's lifetime.

I will always remeber

-Little Big Planet - :) for its overall charm and innovation.

-Demon's Souls - for its atmosphere, excellent gameplay and attention to detail.

-Mirror's Edge - For giving me a glimpse of what would it feel like being a parkour. (story could have been better, though.) Speed runs were a blast.

-Metal Gear Solid 4 - THE MICROWAVE! :P seriously play this game even if you haven't touched any game in the mgs series.

-Heavy Rain - trust me with this one. i don't wanna spoil anything.

-Uncharted 2- It has memorable characters and the story, while it doesn't even attempt to be one of the best, is really interesting. pace is perfect. (I would recommend skipping the first one, but that´s just me and my motion sickness)

-Bionic Commando Rearmed - it was hard as hell, but it was really really fun (soundtrack was great too)

-God of war III - I loved every minute of it (especially the final hour)

-Dead space - the game that started it all for me (it marked, to me, the end of the 2007 ps3 games drought). It's no silent hill in the story department but the atmosphere is excellent and downright creepy.

I have both a ps3 and and 360 and I would say I've had better and more memorable game experiences with games like Uncharted 2, God of war series, and MGS4 (the only games I own so far) than I have with my xbox.. Im not even a sony fanboy or anything.. I HATED sony until a year or so ago.. They have better stories that suck you in and game play to boot. I can't really think of xbox exclusives that i thought were down right epic.. although I thought the first Fable, Unreal Championship 2, and Viva Pinata were all really fun and interesting games. :)

Memorable: MGS4, Assassin's Creed 2, Heavy Rain, Uncharted 1&2, God of War series, I'm sure The Last Guardian will be memorable, Red Dead Redemption (of course that's 360 too), Demon's Souls.

I'm a PC gamer too and most of 360's memorable titles are also on PC. Such as Mass Effect 1&2. Since you own a PC the only things you're really missing out on 360 wise is Halo 3 and Reach, Fable 2 (3 is going to PC), Gears of War 2, and Alan Wake. PS3 would probably be more worth your money since it will open a larger variety of games to you. Nothing at all against the 360 as I play it often, but that's my opinion.

MGS4 will probably be the only one.. and maybe if the whole "interactive art" thing takes off alot more then Heavy Rain as well..
