I may be wrong about this info so please forgive me in advance. I believe ethernet cable offers up to 100mbs vs 54mbs wireless transfer speed. So Wired is always faster but it is up to your preference in the end.mojahid_1st
Yeah, thats correct, but it doesn't really matter. There's nobody in the United States with a connection fast enough to take up 54mbs of bandwith. If you have a 10 megabit connection with your cable or DSL provider you are still only downloading at a maximum throughput of about 1mbs.
Unless you have a T3 pumping into your house, this isn't something to worry about.
The thing that you DO need to worry about when comparing wired to wireless connections is latency. Basically, the time it takes from when you make a request to the server to when you get a response and start talking back and forth. In online games that send streams of packet this can increase your latency (called ping in most games) and your packet loss, which will cause jumping and stuttering in a game.
Wired connections have less latency because the number of milliseconds it takes to transfer the data over the wire is measurably less than what it takes to travel through the airwaves. It's really not different enogh to matter if you have at least a wireless-G router. Not for console gaming anyway, where typical pings can range from 100-200 ms with no problems. In a PC game, if you have over 50ms ping in moden games, you will notice problems, people complaining, etc.
