The 60 GB. It has the bonuses not in the 20GB ( and trhe 40GB loses a few things i think ) yet at the same time, it uses EE for PS1/PS2 games ( the 80GB uses software i think )

i was going to go with the 40GB model as it was alot cheaper (400 euro compared to 600) and only a few things were missing, lack of BC beiong the main thing but i could live with that. it had wifi and it played PS3 games to the same standard as every other version of the PS3 so that would do me fine.

however the shop was doing a special offer. for 500 euro i got a 60GB PS3 and 2 games (resistance and RR7) which was a crackin deal. 600 euro for a 60GB model....not a chance in hell im paying that. but a 600 euro PS3 for, basically, 360 euro...well i feel like i just ripped sony off :P.

assuming they were all going full price though, 40GB model would be the one for me.

True, the PS3 60 GB uses an integrated Emotion Engine to run ps2 games. On the other hand, the ps3 80gb runs ps3 games through software emulation, So the ps3 60 gb is the one version with the most features. ps3 60gb is the way to go, grab them while you can!!

Are the 60 gigs running out fast? Can I get a good deal on one somewhere with a good warranty?

The 60GB, it was the better version when I bought my PS3. Got it a month after its release ( December I think? ).

I have a question though, let's suppose your 60gb ps3 broke. You contact Sony and you are told you are gonna get a replacement. Are you going to get a downgraded ps3 (80gb - 40gb) as a replacement?? That wouldn't be fair would it?

80 gig for me because of the backwards compatibility, and I finally sold my PS2 now that I have a 80 gig PS3. I was wondering how you even save your game on a 40 gig since it does not have any memory slots. Does anyone know?

20 GB model cos its the cheapest. (But wait didn't they get rid of it?) oh well we were never going to get it in Australia anyway :(

40 GB cos its the cheapest one thats out in Australia and it's not backwards compatable with PS1/PS2 games I have no interest in playing the old games from those 2 consoles anyway they had there time and now they are past there use by date.

60GB

Not the 20GB and 40GB for obvious reasons

As far as 80GB SKU goes, i can just go to Pcworld and buy a 400GB ExHDD for £99.99 i wouldnt wanna blow an extra buck on 20GB when i can get that now, would i?

I plan to switch my 60Gb HD for a 200Gb HD next year. Mainly to store all my music and films. But a 60Gb and 80Gb will do fine for most people.;)
