reading through the forums, i've noticed more than several threads in regards to over heating, glitches etc...

anyways, i was just curious, which models seem to have the most issues, and if those models are the ones that have backward compatability.

currently have the 160gb and haven't experienced any issues with this model yet (granted, it's just a few weeks old but also hear how some people are having issues with models they just bought as well)

60GB and 20GB has had the most issues since it's released. Now most of it is fixed so 40,80 and 160 are safe

Everyone seems to believe the original two models have the most problems, 20 and 60. While I do have a 60 (now 320), I will have it repaired before I go out and purchase one of the newer models. It would be hard to sacrifice my BC.

Is that a Sony price or aftermarket repair?

Sony's price to fix/replace it. I was told twice before it was $169 from two different idiots and the last call told me "I was misinformed" and now it's $190.97 "in my area"

I don't even know of any repair shops in my city anymore. They've been closed down since the PS2 days and I would imagine they wouldn't be able to fix the PS3 anyways. If there were a cheaper solution in my city, I would be all over that.

That sucks, the reason I asked is because most people have said the whole $150 speal for a broken PS3 ($169), but I always found that to be a bit steep. I really hope nothing happen to mine, but if so I'll dfinitely have it fixed before I purchase a new one. Good luck.

Yeah, not only in these forums but in other forums also, I've noticed the people having or had problems have the launch PS3 SKUs, and that's the 60GB and rare 20GB.

I wonder if anyone has targeted a particular bactch, or months when PS3's were produced that have a tendancy to fail. It tells you when your console was manufactured on the bottom label. My 60 was March 2007.
