I want to save my money for a PS3, but I dont know which model would be best for me. I want to be able to play PS, and PS2 games, and have the graphics still look good. What would be a good one for me?

160 GB is the best overall. It comes with PS1 and PS2 BC (not 100% sure though) and it comes with Uncharted, one DualShock 3 controller, a coupon for PAIN, and of course the most memory. The best package, easily. All I got was an 80 gig with a sixaxis and MotorStorm >.>

I dont think the 160GB is BC.

I say you should buy the 40gig and install a 320 or 500gig hdd instead.

The 160gb or the 40gb doesn't come with BC. The only option you have is to some how find the MGS bundle or buy an old 80gb on ebay. good luck man!

TC there is no more backwards compatibility outside of PSone, unless you build a time machine and go back to 2006/7 and buy the 60GB, or put a lot of faith and money into buying a used one more than a new 80 would cost your not going to get PS2 BC.

As for the 160GB is it even out yet?

The 40GB was also discontinued no? Why are people suggesting this?

Unless the 160GB is out the 80GB w/o backwards compatibility is your only option now. 80GB is all the memory you'll need, the 160 is still only the 40/new 80 with more memory no BC. Its still a great console and really once you build up a library of PS3 games you wont care about the absence of PS2 games (I traded my PS2 and collection in for a new 80 and 1 month in I could care less about not having it). Besides the BC after the 20 and 60GB were discontinued was all software emulation and if you've ever played the 360 then you know the problems you would experience with it.

The MGS4 bundle shouldn't be to hard to find. They have a few still left at my Wal-Mart, and I got mine from the same stack 3 months ago. So you might try looking at yours. Then try ebay.

The original 60gb is by far the best system to have in your case. It has all the features the new models have but it has pretty much 100% backwards compatability. I think by now everyone should disregard the hard drive space on any model, considering upgrading to any size is very easy to do. The newest models have 0% BC and that is the way it will be from now on, as sony realized backwards compatability was expendable for a less expensive system. I don't see why BC matters anymore with all the new games coming out, but if playing PS2 and PS1 games is important to you than I suggest getting one of the original models (20gb or 60gb). You can get them used at gamestop and possibly you can still find a new one floating around the net somewhere.

No the 40GB/new 80GB/ 160GB all have PSone compatibility but Sony has said PS2 is gone for good so they dont have zero percent BC. You can at least play something.

um....how bout we cut PS1 out and talk about PS2 BC. One thing I saw on Gamestop.com was that the 20g is more than the 40g. the 20 get some special aps. with it? And I would also like to have enough space to hold games at least, and I dont know how many g's would be good for someone like me.

Another thing that I want to ask is how long these BC concoles will be on the market. You guys are saying that the new consoles wont have BC on it, so will you not be able to buy a PS3 with BC after awhile. Not to go off topic, but im saving up for gears 2, then gunna try and save up for the PS3, but probably wont be able to get the money till christmas, and my hopes are that there's still going to be PS3's with BC out there.
