This is an interesting thread because I have a friend who just got a PSP for Christmas. He's a hardcore gamer, but he has never played PSP or any of the Metal Gear games prior to his buying them. He's playing through MGA 1 right now (which I recommended to him) and he thinks it's worthy of a 10. Sorry for going off-topic. I think Burnout Legends, Daxter, MGA 1 & 2, and MGS Portable Ops all deserve at least 9.1 scores.
IMO no game to date on the PSP deserves a 9.0 superb rating. However the PSP has many games that are high 8.0's. It has a lot of great titles just lacks a killer app. Games that are 8.5-8.9 IMO: Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops Tekken: Dark Resurrection Rachet and Clank: Size Matters Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories Lumines Wipeout Pure Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror
Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror was definitely 10-worthy. I hate the 'replay the same frikkin game to get to all the content' mechanic (do I *really* need a tuxedo unlocked?). Yet SF:DM did it in such a way that I was sittin' there replaying mission ad nauseum with a smile on my face all the while. Great story, great controls, great weapons, great gadgets. Man I wish I hadn't traded it in now...
god of war chains of olympus. that game only got 8.5 on its gamespot review. and patapon got 9.0? unbelievable.boybrushdred
I can understand why it got an 8.5, mainly because it didn't do anything new. The weapons were similar to previous games, there wasn't anything new added to the combat, and the story was hardly there. Not to mention it was incredibly short, BTW don't think I'm putting the game down because I enjoyed it a lot.
