I'm looking for a skateboarding game, and I thought Tony Hawk's Project 8 sucked. Was wondering if Skate or THPG were any good, or if I should just pick up THPS 3 for PS2.

Skate. Seriously. Blows TH games away. SERIOUSLY. I can't emphasize this enough. Get it. Don't second guess it. By far the best skating game ever. I can't wait for the next one.

skate. it's awesome, and it feels amazing when you land tricks... and it's pretty realistic too. it makes me wanna go outside and actually skate every time i play. i can't wait until the next one, i hope the graphics are better on it too.

I was never really a Tony Hawk fan, and when I played the Demo for Skate I was blown away! It is easily the best and most fun skateboarding game ever created. It's almost like Grand Theft Auto, but your skateboarding! I've beaten everything and still play it once and a while to just skate around and see how many bones I can break at once. lol

Thanks for all the input, guys.

I noticed they complain about the PS3 version's frame rate on Gamespot... is it bad? Also, I'm used to the arcade-style million mile grinds from the THPS series... is this game experience more like real skating? The demo doesn't really seem to indicate what the game plays like. Do I get to skate across varied locales like the older THPS games? Like I skate a line in Amsterdam one minute, and the next minute I'm in Minneapolis.

Skate for sure man. Tony Hawk is very repetitive and very unrealistic, Sure they were fun back in the day but they're all the same. THP8 did suck, i regret buying it

It really depends on where you are and what your doing. It may lag a little once and a while, but nothing that will severely impair your experience. I notice them once and a while, but its not like I don't complete a trick because of it or anything. It's nothing to not buy the game for.

Skate is realy life skating in video game form. You arent doing 600 front flips while also doing a 360 flip in the air because that just isnt possible in real life. The physics in Skate are amazing and it is all one big city. There are numerous spots that are good for skating and you can pretty much do it all. It truly is the best skateboarding game ever made. Just stop thinking about it and buy it! lol

From what I've been reading it has FPS issues in certain parts of the city if youre using an HDTV and playing at a high resolution. If you have an SDTV I heard it's not much of a problem. EA isnt so great at coding for the cell.
