I'm a big fan of LED, although PS3 will look great on either. Color radiance is better on LED and of course they're way more sleek and manageable, but at that size you're not going to get a ton of a difference for the added cost. Still, go LED, a 24" should be able to last you awhile as your gaming monitor, be it for consoles or PC. Plus, when Durango and Orbis come out, they should definitely be supporting 1080p gameplay and I think you'd much prefer LED when that day comes.

If you can afford it go for LED.

But not all LCDs are LEDs. LEDs typically have better brightness and depth of color, almost on par with plasmas, whereas non-LED LCDs can sometimes have a more faded or washed-out look about them where they lack vibrancy and their blacks are more dark grays. I would guess the threadstarter was asking if the LEDs are worth the cost, or if a standard LCD would suffice.

LED will be better, it's more power effecient aswell. LED will cost you a bit more though.

This is probably an awful answer, but if you got the money, go LED, if not, go LCD. LED LCD is simply a step up from a non-LED LCD display. That being said, you could probably get a bigger LCD (non-LED) screen for the same price as a LED LCD screen, which seems to me like the way to go.

LCD will do but LED is better. So 24 inches is good. Brand name is up to you. You could go with Sony or Panasonic, LG or even a no-name could be O.K like insignia. I would go with Sony just so it matches.
