My brother really wants a PS3, but can't decide which one to get. I keep telling him that the 40GB model is lame and lacks a lot of features, but he really doesn't like the idea of paying $100 more for the 80 GB MGS4 bundle. Personally, I think the 80 GB MGS4 bundle is the best deal, but I have heard that the 60 GB model that is no longer in production is very good too, (I don't mind buying used, since PS3 hardware failure rates are nowhere near as high as Xbox 360). I know that there are like 6 or 7 different models available, including the new cheaper 80 GB model that lacks Backwards compatibility. So which one is best?

In terms of price, i'd say the MGS4 Bundle.

The 60 gig PS3 is the best, but a new one is at around 750-800 bucks on eBay, used should be around 650 or 600(note that prices rise at the last minute)

If you think about it, the bundle is only $40 more than the crappy ass ps3 coming on september knowing that MGS4 is worth 60 bucks. It also has SD reader, flash card, 2 extra USB ports, and of course backwards compatibility(theres more stuff I think. For $40 more bucks it's totally worth it

The 60gig is the best, but there's nothing wrong with the 80. Honestlt, the MGS bundle is the best deal, since it has all the fatures, plus comes with a game (best game so far this gen, IMO) and a DS3 controller. Yeah, the 40 is $100 cheaper, but for that extra hundred bucks you are getting 4 usb ports (40gig only has 2, so if you play something like Rock Band you have to get a USB hub), memory stick readers (some people like to put their pics on their ps3), twice the hard disk, a great game (there's $60 of the price difference right there) and a better controller. All in all, it's a far better deal. If I hadn't bought my 60gig back when they were still $600, I'd definitely get the MGS4 80gig bundle.

What's best for me may not be best for you. Get the console you feel will best fit you and your needs. Are you just looking to play games and movies or are you the type that like to download a lot of content?

The 60 gig was by far the best PS3 released followed by the 20 and 80 gig systems.

The 20 gig had the same EE chip as the 60 gig did, which allowed for about the same BC support on both systems.
