Finally this game is coming out. I had a lot of interest in it when it was not released in Japan. After its release i saw a lot of videos from the game and i felt like this game is a Average game . I Only play games that get a 8.8 on gamespot Atleast. below that i hardly play any games apart from Exception like Uncharted 1 or Heavenly Sword.

I do love RPG's and loved Demons Souls very much. I want as many quality Rpgs as possible. Now that the White Knight release is finally here i have felt the interest growing again slowly. I can feel it. But i would like to see gamespots word on it. What i fear is that its gonna get something around 7.5 and i wont play it. I hope that would not be the case .

What do you guys think ?

I think my mind is 100 Percent a gamespots Reviewers mind and i have not been disapointed a single time by gamespot apart from 2-3 exceptions at most and exceptions are everywhere. I have been doing this for 33 years now so i know how much time gamespot has saved me but for Kids hey. I didnt know about this when i was your age say 14-23. even 23 is not such a big age and i also thought otherwise until i got finally mature at the age of 25 and knew whats going on

I'm 30 and still find it hard to believe you base so much off of review scores especially considering the number of different reviewers that have come and gone in the 33 years you've been doing this. :|

I love RPG's aswell. I know there's a lack of them on the PS3 and you may have some hunger for it, but it seriously doesn't look that good at all. So I'm probably not gonna bother with it.

Oh yeah, about WKC. I hate to bubble pop (lol do I?), but that game will NOT be a AAA title. It'll be lucky to even get an 8.5 If I'm wrong, you can quote this message now and/or later and I myself will sig this message as a way to eat my own words.

We have a group of 4 here . We have tested gamespot again and again and never have we found to miss a good game that was less reviewed on gamespot. in 33 years. Apart from 2 -3 in 30 years. I think thats a very solid Record and we saved 1000's of hours of our lifes by not playing bad games which we consider the ones which get lower then 8.8 on gamespot. We did so many things in that time thats it makes us proud of our policy and gamespot.

Actually, I agree with Emitsu. I kind of feel sorry for you. You miss out other games that have really great experiences. I cannot believe that someone actually follows reviews like they are bottom line on video games. Review scores are someone eles's opinion, why not play the game and make your own opinion? I mean really, you trust reviewers that much? I have played some games that have made game of the year and I despise them (Elder Scrolls and Fallout ... I'm looking at you). You go ahead and ignore that game by Level 5. You'll miss out on a great experience.

You make it sound like a maturity issue but it sounds more to me like the blind leading the blind ...

I think this game is going to be a decent Jrpg. Not the best one ever but good one none the less. Having online modes just adds to the fun. And i'd still like it just as much if Gamespot gave it a 5 or 6 or W/e.

If you love RPGs and you only play games that score higher than 8.8, then you are really missing out. I doubt WKC will score higher than 8.5 but you are also missing out on Valkyria Chronicles, Disgaea 3, etc.... It is your loss.

I'm still very much looking forward to White Knight Chronicles, and I have been since it was announced. I love Level 5 (Rogue Galaxy was one of my fav RPGs last gen), so I'm gonna give them the benefit of the doubt. I try not to look at review scores before going into a game I am anticipating, as they can often influence the way I see the game before I even play it. After I play (and sometimes beat it), I'll go online and look at review scores and see how they compare to what I thought. A lot of times, they are similar, but sometimes way off.

I think you didnt read my answer properly. I said we all have tested gamespot from time to time. That means we have played a lot of games which got below 8.8 from time and time and in the end we have gotten to the conclusion that gamespot was right and we wasted our time . Take a example of this generation. We played Virtua Tennis 3. In the end we agreed that we should have not wasted out time with this game. another example is Fable and Resident Evil 5. Again we finished these games and in the end felt so bad . we wished we didnt played them at all

It all depends on whats calibre do you want to carry of yourself or how serious you take your gaming passion. We have a very high choosy calibre for picking up the best of the best and we take our passion very seriously since we work and we have one passion thats gaming. so we discuss about games a lot also . hours of discussion going on every day.

I myself tried out Valkyria chroncles . Since i have said we test gamepot from time to time. After playing for 6 hours i finally agreedd i cant play this game its no fun at all and if we would have followed our policy of 8.8 i would have saved a lot of boring hours. But we need to test and it was a game which we should try. but in the end Gamespot score is Upheld. Disgaea 3. comon man.

right. you are right according to your experience that sometimes your review is spot on and sometimes its way off but according to our experience its always spot on with gamespot so we dont have to look anywhere else.

Like I said, your loss but you are coming off really strange with the "we" thing. There must be a "we only play games that score over 8.8 on gamespot" cult or something. If your policy is set in stone, don't bother posting on the board and wait until they review WKC because our opinions obviously do not matter to you, only the reviewers' opnions matter. Very sad, but true.

I just want to hear what people think about the game. whats the fever like. I am not telling you to educate me on what to play or what not to play . since i know better . Our policy is not set in stone dude. dont misquote people. We have tested it and we believe in it. Now we are not saying you believe in it too. Its just our mindset works exactly as gamespot. why are you just trying to convince me to change what i think. Its a free world . we will choose what we play and we are not missing out on anything. so please keep your pity for yourself.

Pointing out that the gamespot scores have since been adjusted on a .5 base level so i advise you to switch to a 8.5 or 9.0 limit bar.

Also...

score is designed to be a resume of the review ... sometimes the reviewer gave a bad score to because of a specific of the game

a good example would be a bad score for disgaea 3 for graphics because its still uses ps2 sprite like characters for the characters, on the others i like when a series graphics stays accurate to its artistic legacy.

So while the reviewer gave a score 5/10 for graphics i'd probably score it as a 9/10 base on my personal artistic preferences.

That why looking at score is a good info, but it is only ACCURATE info if you read the whole review to actually understand what those numbers meant in their context and the reviewer mind.

halo is bad and got creepy high scores ... go figure

Personal favorite of all time who got very bad scores

brigandine legend of forsena ps1
ring of red ps2
ogrebattle : march of the black queen ps1 snes
suikoden 1 and 2 ps1
front mission 4 ps2

all below 8, imo ring of red = biggest submarine of all time, replayed the game 7 times around 30 hours each

One of my favorite games this games this generation is Mirror's Edge. It received 7.0 from GS. One of my favorite game last generation is The Getaway. It got 6.9.

Mirrors Edge was too bad and 7 was a very accurate review given by gamespot and we believe it and ofcourse we dont want you to believe it with us but for us its point black accurate. and we are glad so much time is saved . we just tried the demo for mirror edge.

How do you(pl.) know that Mirror's Edge is noly worth an arbitary 7 if you only played the demo? Surely you'd have to play more of the game to be able to judge it, given how misrepresentative demos can be, before you're fully able to justify your decision to place a game on your (seemingly quite long) list of exceptions?

I am not a Kid who cant judge a game by its demo and after it receives a 7. My friend ended it also and he felt the misery all along.

I almost missed your main question o_O.

Things i will probably like about this game :

town building sim, was also one of the main attraction for me for the dark cloud series.

character building, i like having my own avatar roaming a world and ultimately leaving its mark.

save the princess story, for some it gets old fast but for me it never seems to get old, gives stories a fairytale touch that makes me remember my younger days when i watched disney moviies with my family friday nights.

solid combat animation system, its not the fastest combat ever but the opponent circling around each other gives it a dueling feel and the animations gave it a movie touch, so far i like what i saw, fingers crossed for the numbers being to be as solid.

things i might not like :

giant knight thingie, i anticipate camera problems as well as loss of teammates focus but i still have hope.

death of server : i hate server based multiplayers because eventually after X years you lose part of your base investment, when you go back to it. im a nostalgic at hearth

True. So very right. I am also excited about the GeoRama town building aspect of the game. Nice points you have pointed out there . Very Very Informative indeed.
