You guys are missing out. When I first got my PS3 I played it on a SDTV, and I couldn't stand it because it looked like a muddy pos.Gxgear
I really disagree with people saying that you're missing out if you're not playing in HDTV. For me it's just graphics. I don't really care how the game looks as long as it plays good. I don't really like too good graphics. My favorite kind of graphics is Saints Row 2, just average.

I had trouble playing FPS on SDTV. If you really dont care about graphics then you should consider getting a PS2.
You paid good money for a PS3 might as well use it to its potential. If you cant afford one that's totally understandable, but HDTV is the future and getting it for the PS3 seems like a good opportunity to make that switch.

Well, hey, don't knock it 'till you've tried it.

It's not just the graphics. A friend of mine plays COD4 on an SDTV and half the time he can't see people far away because it's too distorted, where I can easily see people at long distances without a sniper scope because everything is crystal clear. In GTAIV, he can't read some of the funny ads that are posted on buildings or on the side of trucks. I have to read them to him since his SDTV is in such a small resolution, the text is unreadable. It's not just graphics, it's the overall experience. And SDTV fails at many things when it comes giving you full enjoyment of the game, whether you realize it or not.I used to play on a SDTV but then i bought a HDTV and i must admit the difference is huge and i'll never go back to playing on a SDTV.sukraj
I tottally agree. HDTV FTW!!!!:D

I gotta disagree. See it's the graphics that are the issue. It's the clarity. SD to HD when playing SOCOM is the difference between a miss and a headshot at times because I'm practically shooting at blurry blobs instead of people. It's not just the graphics. A friend of mine plays COD4 on an SDTV and half the time he can't see people far away because it's too distorted, where I can easily see people at long distances without a sniper scope because everything is crystal clear. ^^ This.
I was playing Cod:Waw in my 32" Bravia (HD) in SD (didn't have HDMI cable at the time) and I was getting slaughtered. That same day I bought my HDMI and everything was crystal clear. I was no longer shooting at things that weren't human and I was able to see the snipers. If you're playing something like... LBP, were graphics are not important, then SD is fine. If you have a hardcore game were everything is fast paced and your surrounding is being blown to hell then get an HD, you won't regret it.
In all honesty I have never really had a problem with seeing text, only on the browser have I every had problems seeing. You guys need too understand just because your playing in SD doesn't mean your missing out. Iplay both my 360 and PS3 on an SDTV, and I go too my sisters house too play PS3 with her boyfriend onn ouccasion. He plays in HD yeah there is a diffrence but when you think about it, its still the same game just more crisp. Also we are in a recession there is no need too buy somthing that is now needed.theMarshell
I agree on the bolded lines. I never had a problem reading texts.
I've played several times on HDTV in some friends' house. Yes there is difference, but it doesn't bother me at all.
And I also don't play FPS (it's one of my hatest genre) so I have no problems dealing with head shots or far located enemies. I played Uncharted and I got no problemsmaking head shots or hitting far enemies. Maybe it depends on the game.
And BTW, I can afford to buy HDTV but I just think I don't need it. I'd rather spend my money on other things or on games.
Yeh, I still have to play on SD.
THe real bad thing about it is, that the writing for most games are damn too small for hd consoles, at least its like that when I play my 360.
I'm planning to switch to hd as soon as I get PS3.
