Mercenary king is just garbage. I can see if the graphics were pumped up considerably. Peez or whatever the other stupid game is also trash. I know this is the trend for developers to make easy cheap games and get more people to pay $20 vs $60 for a AAA game that takes yrs to develop with a ton of people making the game.
Resogun and dead nation are very good but these goofy games like peez and mercenary are a waste of space on psn+. It almost seem like they just resurrect old crap with no improvements. Resogun looks like a great graphic game that is simple to play but intense. The playroom is kind of a indie style and the ninja add on is very fun. So I am not just a AAA gamestyle person. It's nice to play a quick to learn and fun game. Like the chess game coming out and the pool game are Sony exclusives. It just seem like when u call a game indie 99% of the games are goofy and frankly out dated and stupid. A game can be very creative but great puzzles etc and not a game like peez or whatever that junk is call.
Is this just relating to the free ps+ games? Because I know that its still early in the life cycle as to what they can give us, but I want something a little more than the indie games their giving us. More games like outlast would be great.
Resogun was cool.
Considering how early we are on PS4s lifecycle, I'd say we're getting some good games. The only one I didn't like was Don't Starve.
@MethodManFTW: yes I meant fez....I just could care so llittle to even check the correct name before posting poll. Outlast was good also. It's been a 50-50 good and bad ratio for indie games. I guess I am referring to a mixture of the free psn+ and just Indies in general. Just starve was another game that o consider goofy...off the wall and just not fun. At least just starve felt like a next gen look in a miniature form unlike life size characters in watch dogs etc.
Honestly I've been disappointed with the games on offer, the only game I've downloaded so far is Outlast and let me tell you what a superb game that is. Well worth it's full asking price if you missed the download on PS+
I think your missing the point there just offering new games for free on ps+, I mean you can't expect an updated batman game for free, ps3 can get them sort of games because it has a vast back catalogue of games.
PS4 has merely been out a few months you can't expect a AAA game to be put up for free, there isn't any and the ones that are our are only a few months old, sony has to pay for these games to be put onto ps+ they don't just go o have this.
you cannot at all compare the games from ps3 to ps4, one console has been out a few months the other 7years :S
Im somewhat pleased with the indie games so far. Its early on anyways, I expect better in the future.
there are all trash
I want to play a real next experience not something that could be done on an nes/snes

You are very intelligent.
Mercenary Kings is awesome. End of story.
And I think we're at the point where it no longer matters if a game has good graphics or retro-looking ones anymore, since the main point is that the GAMEPLAY is fun.
Realism does not make things better, people. Real life sucks. That should be kind of a big give away.
I don't see the problem with indie games. On my 360, half of my games were indie games and the other half weren't. With indie games the graphics normally aren't there but IMO it's all about the gameplay. My friends and I play indie games just as much as Big budget games and have just as much fun.
I think for how long the PS4 has been out PSN+ has given us some great games. Resogun, Outlast, Contrast jump off the top of my head as stand out games. I'm sure the free games will get better as PS4 ages and more content is available.
@bezza2011: I agree that I am not going to get a AAA game for free yet. I am just saying a lot of these games are crap. At least last month and what I see this month.
I also agree that graphics and realistic modeled characters/ people/ aliens or whatever doesn't make a game great either..it is gameplay being fun. BUT BAD GRAPHICS OUTDATED CONCEPT GAMES COULD MAKE a GAME NOT FUN TO PLAY ALSO. Have you guys noticed that indie games can be great gameplay but soon forgotten after a week or so?
Gta 5 came out October and people still talking about it just like they will talk about another great AAA game for long after release IF the gameplay is too notch(creative),great storyline, high replay value and of course stellar graphics. Nobody in their right mind would buy a next gen system if it was taken over exclusively by indie games. Indie games are fillers until a truely redefining game like watchdog comes out. Watch dog is unique in that no one has made a game like this with hacking a entire city etc and if it is a great game with 10 scores it will dominate the news especially if the game takes 40 plus hrs to finish then go online to play until infinity and beyond. AAA games sell consoles and even non gamers become gamers when these games come.
If Indie games took over then gaming would never come out the geek closet..must be staying with his momma in the basement looking at porn type of gamer with no girlfriend and no chance at being a prospect for a husband, fixing old pcs for a living.
I want Great AAA games 80% of the time and indie the rest of the percentage. As I said great AAA not call it AAA just because the company spent a lot of money. I want innovation and pushing a game system to it's limit which a indie games will never do.
@ewalthour: I do agree I was more talking about your greed for games on ps+ lol.
I'm not a fan of indie games at all to be fair, I don't see how they can class it as indie when all these guys seem to be doing are nicking idea's from the snes era and claiming them to be brand new games, i'd say they are more retro fan games than indie games, thats not to say there aren't some great ones but I do get what your saying.
@AJC3317: isn't that the point tho, that's why there indie dev's, the fact is for the cost of making a AAA game, is to much of a risk to not make the standard AAA game that's the problem it's honestly all down to business and nothing else, that's not to say anything different could work, like Sony has QuanticDream trying to push the blurry line between videogames and movies, but alot of the corperates want a fast return, so until this changes we won't see a drastic change to AAA games except the odd one or 2. it's getting them to sell to the masses to bring back the money they spent and more.

Heck yeah, brother. These indie dorks with their 'waifus' need to get the heck out of my video games.
i am not tired of indie games
Ditto. I'm getting exposure to games I normally wouldn't check out. And it's still early.
indie game devs are the only ones willing to do anything different now a days. all aaa big budget games try to appeal to so many people that they become watered down and quite overrated
Right. Like Mercenary kings; totally different than something like Metal Slug or countless other 16-bit shooters.
or Don't Starve's Minecraft-styled gameplay
or Terraria's Minecraft-styled gameplay
or Mutant Mudds not being anything like 16-bit platformers
I like indie games, but the ones I've seen and played are more of continuations of what the 16-bit era was than actual fresh, new experiences. The only risk the indies are taking is in terms of sales, not gameplay. Even The Witness reminds me of Myst, although of course it could be completely different.
It could also be that indie games are fresh to a younger audience, who didn't play through the 16-bit era.
@Grieverr: my main issue with mercenary and pez are that these games feel like port of old games not upgraded to 2014. At least don't starve felt like a next gen indie game. Just like dead nation. I never played dead nation before but could tell thus was a upgraded game for ps4.
I know Sony feels like giving us something but what I rather have them do is provide what they promised from launch mp3,customize main screen etc. Maybe this is around the corner. Lets just hope by summer or E3 Sony give is all these things along with some type of backwards capabilities.
I've enjoyed pretty much all the games I've been able to get from ps+ except for dont starve that game kinda sucked. And actually I really like mercenary kings too its fun and I like old school games so I have no complaints.
Realism does not make things better, people. Real life sucks. That should be kind of a big give away.
Heh, good one.

Resogun is the game that really sticks out when it comes to PS4
I am just saying that when you see ps3 get batman origin for free why can't we get a slightly upgraded batman origin originally made for last gen on psn+. Mercenary king isnt a original indie it is a old ass atari game or in the time warp.
Have you even played the game?
@Bigboi500: yes I played it. I never talk bad about a game unless I experienced it for myself. Thr game feels old, look old and is old. The game hasn't been revamped for 2014 whatsoever to reflect the powerof ps4. You look at dead nation and resogun ands immediately tell it's a old-school game modernized with good graphics and gameplay.I pprobably wouldn't likrme the game back in the day. Now what would be great if the old school arcade game vanguard was modernized to 3d world for ps4.
My main issue is when nothing was done with the game but copy and paste it to ps4 from nes or wherever bargain basement system mercenary kings came from or any other game.
Also if mgs 1 from 1998 was made suped up graphically then put on ps+ then we are talking. Like I said even if I don't like the game like don't starve I want the game to appear like it was made for the ps4 a revised from it's old state. I believe don't starve is original game but u get my point.
@guynamedbilly: that is my point..I would want a ps4 version of batman origin. It would be smart for them to do it since they probably loss out when people bought ps4. There was a lot of upgraded ps3 games to ps4 and this one would be nice. I don't think the game was as good as rocksteady pedigree but I wouldn't care since it's free for ps+.
@ewalthour: I mean, I agree. I'd love to have some of that ready to go for the relatively few number of games, but it's not cheap to add the higher quality textures and effects and make it work with the PS4's system. Doing all of that work for a game that they're giving away, that's probably already sold most of what it's going to might not make any sense financially.
@guynamedbilly: if they sold it for $20 for psn+ people I would prefer it over a crappy indie game like mercenary. Who am I kidding I want it free since I can wait for the real batman at the end of the yr plus I have mgs ground zero and nba 2k14 to keep me occupied along with my preoder for watch dog I am expected to get
If you would had asked me that question, let's say a week ago or so, I would had tell you a resounding: yes. But having played Outlast, Fez (demo), Strider (demo), Dead Nation and Mercenary Kings (bugs & all), my opinion has changed somewhat. I explain: althought I much rather prefer AAA games that showcase the power of the PS4, the previously mentioned indie games are so fun that I can't complain too much. If you are a true gamer, that is. If you are a graphics whore (which I kinda am, after all that's why I bought a PS4 in the first place! heheh), I can understand and kinda relate to your frustration.
@carloscanalesv: I love graphics but game must have great gameplay. I like all the games u mention but mercenary and fez but overall I want AAA games. I will get chess coming out 4/15/14 and that is sort of a indie game with cheap price, small company and small scope etc.
Outlast takes the cake, I honestly can't wait for Whistleblower to come out. But the PS4 does offer a lot of sub-par indie games that don't appeal to everyones liking. I wasn't huge into Dead Nation: Apocolypse Edition but I'm really enjoying Mercenary Kings. And I'm not sure if Strider is indie but that is my favorite purchase from the PS Store so far since Injustice went on sale.
I'm not tired of these types of games being released (the more games the better), but I am tired of the lack of true "AAA" boxed type games not being released.
I get that it's early in the cycle and this always happens, but this drought feels particularly long and, well, droughty. I would be happy if we got some remasters of last gen's classics to tide us over; Tomb Raider DE was incredible, and LoU is coming soon, but I would love some other remasters to fill these empty gaming gaps.
Eh, patience, I guess. The games will come.
I think people need to rememeber Indie Developers are groups of people who don't want to be put with a big corporation and want to make games they like not games what your'll like and the masses just games.
great documentary to watch is Indie Game: The Movie, it's a very insightful view into what indie developers stand for and what there out to do. I think people are judging them as big developers than just individuals.
I am tired of the lack of true "AAA" boxed type games not being released.
They've just given you Infamous: Second Son, tired already?
Yup. Tired of it before I even finished it, frankly. Were it not for the lack of other games to play outside of indies on PS4, I probably would've shelved it until (if) I regained any care to play it. Seeing as there's a lack of games outside of indies on PS4 (for me), I pushed through and beat it with good karma. Even started a bad karma run on expert, but got too bored to continue.
Maybe I'll continue, maybe I won't. For now, though, I feel more than done with Second Son (by far my least favorite inFAMOUS game yet).
I understand how this works; new system comes out, games are slow to come out for it. We all know it. That doesn't make it any less painful, however.
Indies are a great thing; I have had quite a bit of fun with a number of them. That doesn't mean I want them as my primary gaming experience, something they've sort of had to be if I wanted any use out of my PS4 thus far.
There is a indie game called king oddball that is stupid but something to do. It requires only timing to drop rocks off the tongue isn't some creature to blow up tanks etc. The game isn't worth a dime but has the ability to get you to want to level up and open the map.
Its another indie game that could be on the ps1. It's a demo but charge you $7.99 for the full version. I try almost every indie demo so I can see for myself if it's worth a damn. The game sucks but it's just something to do. Resogun is by far a Indie style game I would pay $10-$20 for if added levels are given.
I am tempted to get the space game coming out soon that came from pc from a English developer but I am saving money for AAA games. What Sony needs to do is bring back the Hasbro family style games which I would buy like the family night and also family feud and wheel of fortune etc. I lost all those games fr ps3 I had but kept the save files.
