I usually buy new, however, when buying older games I usually buy used. New if it is available.

blue Rays have protective coatings that are super hard to scratch: i have around 25 games in my collection, and around 15 are 2nd hand from EB games, ebay and other online places, and I have yet to get a scratched game...they almost always look brand new and are in perfect condition; most of the time you wouldnt be able to tell the difference. Plus they are SUPER cheap.

Most of my games are new but I do however have a few games that I bought used. The used games I have were games I wanted but didn't recieve good reviews so I wait for them to drop in price and then I get them used, for example Lair.

of course, it's best to buy new games... but pre-owned is good as well, as long as it doesn't have any scratchers on the disc , the manual and the case is in great condition, why not!?

I usually don't buy used games, but due to bluray's protective layer I feel a lot safer in picking up a used game. I don't think any of my ps3 games even have a scratch.

Unless it's a new release, what's the point of buying new? There is almost always some sucker on ebay who just bought a title and either doesn't like it or has already beaten it. I almost always buy used when I can but for brand spankin new games that I know I'm going to enjoy I'll buy them new.

I'll also usually wait for sales. I really wanted to get Bioshock for the PS3 and I waited for it to get cheaper because those games that are ported like that end up dropping in price fast. Look what happened to UT3... Orange Box... same thing happened.

I was looking for the MGS Essentials collection at GameStop but could only find that game. It was $20... the Essentials collection on ebay is going for $30 and it has the first three games included. I think ebay might be your best bet.

I almost only buy used games since a couple of years. Got a shop I can trust, they're always in good condition and though I'm always a wee bit suspicious when I see excellent games for sale as secondhand copies, never had any problems yet...

I buy preowned when I can find the game I want as long as it's not a scratched disc, includes the booklets, and doesn't look like a dog chewed on the case.

I usually don't buy pre-owned games unless it's a game I have had doubts about (Infinite Undiscovery was the recent). But I guess if it isn't currently on my radar of games i want, then I will buy 360.

Almost always used from eBay though sometimes you get the new & sealed for the price of a second hand game. What does it matter whether a game is second hand Ive to date and Ive been buying of eBay for a long time now NEVER had a problem with a game Ive bought through eBay.

It has literally saved me hundreds and hundreds of euros. Just bought R2 for 30 euros saving me 35 euros I'm probably never buying a game in the shop ever again. Except for FFXIII cant wait even one day when that comes out.

Used games arent that bad depending on where you purchase it. I get all my used games from gamestop, they are trustworthy and I get an additional 10% off when i buy them used for my Edge card. Go to Gamestop, and go preowned!

Normally I buy new. I've had a few bad experiences buying used. However, if I find something used that is to my liking and cant find it new or the used version is dirt cheap compared to the new, ala Heavenly Sword, then I'll buy used.

Get an edge card at gamestop and go used. You get 10% off used games and the games are guaranteed to work. I mean, does it really matter if the disk has been used before if it works? The only problem I have with gamestop is sometimes the cases are in bad shape and they have 3 stickers all over them. Otherwise it is hard for me to justify spending $60 on a video game. I'm old enough to remember when games cost $40-50 brand spanking new on release day. It has to be an epic game for me to buy first day. I can count on one hand how many games: GTA4, Bad Company, MGS4, Little Big Planet and Madden 09. I regretted the Madden 09 choice though. Here are some deals I have gotten at gamestop:

Warhawk $30

Bioshock $31.50

Assassin's Creed $21

Motorstorm $13.50

I just traded in my Fallout 3 at Blockbuster (they gave me $33) for CoD4 (worth $33) I think it was a used copy, cuz it was cheap and from Blockbuster since I saw CoD4 in Walmart for $60. But yeah whoever buys my copy of Fallout 3 is going to get it for cheap and it will work perfectly fine since I take really good care of my games. I never even touch the underside of the disk, ever.

Im a bargain shopper. i always like to get good deals on things. example: a while back i found a coupon for buy 2 pre-owned ps3 games get one free at gamespot. I got MGS4, Burnout Paradise, and Star Wars TFU. for the price i woulda paid for just 1 one of those brand new!

also if you really look you can find older titles for pretty cheap brand new. look for rival stores that are near each other. Im lucky enough to have a wal-mart, k-mart, blockbuster, target, and best buy all within 5 miles of my home. these stores have bargain bins and sales that you wouldnt normally hear about. you just have to go and look. here are some great deals i got on older titles. but i got them brand new.

Assassins Creed (before it became a PS3 fav) $30

Dark Sector (great deal at wal mart) $14

GH3 bundle pack (day after xmas) $80

NBA Street Homecourt (last copy at k-mart) $10

The Simpsons (black friday sale at best buy) $10

I guess I do prefer to own games new. but if you can find a used one for a great price especially in this economy id say jump on it.

HA! Marvel Versus Capcom 2 is sitting comfortably on my games rack, as is FFVII muaha! But yes, I do buy used games quite often, because of the durability of Blu-rays I feel fine buying them pre-owned.

I buy all my games used. There is a store down the street from my house that has all kinds of games used and they are all dirt cheap. Perfect quality and cheap is much better than brand new and rediculously expensive any day.

If they have the game you want in stock preowned, get it. EBGames/Gamestop guarantees their games to play or you can return it. Also if you purchase a used game and you do not enjoy it, they will allow you to return it within 7 days. This is a great policy and it really takes away a lot of the risks that used to be associated with buying used games.

I do tough I prefer to do so at gamestop, as the stickers they use are super easy to remove (unlike the ones from block buster) malking them look as if they were new, also 4 of my games used to be display copies at gamestop (ut3, oblivion, gh aerosmith (just the game, big aerosmith fan) and the club) so they re basically new games "opened but not played" making them super cheap, I mean Oblivion GOTY for just 10 usd?????? quality is assured, tough dont go buying the latest releases used there, cause youre gonna get dissapointed (I mean 59.99 new and 54.99 used????), I just buy used games when I hadnt had the time or mney to get them when they launched.

Only if it knocks off a significant chunk of price from a new copy, or if I'm really not sure about the game in the first place. Sucks that there are no rental outlets around here, much less any that will rent games. :(

That so-called protective coating can still be chewed up by the ps3's disc drive when it decides it wants to eat your games for lunch. That's happened to me on my first ps3, and nearly every playstation 1 and playstation 2 I'd ever owned.
