Yeah, the only reason I care about this move is because the better sales are, the less developers will treat it like it's the 360's mentally challenged kid brother. More users generally means more games and more support, and that's what I want, so I hope to see the slim and the price cut have an impact on that. Honestly it's not so bad anymore, certainly not like 2006-2007, but it still tends to happen more often than it should at this point.
It's not supposed to be a big announcement to those who already have one, so really, you're pretty much asking who already has a PS3 in this thread.hazelnutman
Pretty much. It's nice, however, that nobody can any longer over exaggerate the price of the Ps3 and say it isn't worth it.
Slim consoles are pointless as they slightly smaller but
1.youre not going to put anothert console on same shelf if you using a TV/stand combo
2.Slims overheat incredibly easy
I already have a PS3 Fat but I still care. It's the price I care for because my relatives and friends will hopefully finally get one. I'm going to ask my bro if he wants my PS3 Fat so I can get the Slim. My only problem is I have a few PSN accounts on my PS3 right now for game sharing and some of them changed the PW already. So we'll see.

Slims overheat? And where do you get that info from??
Haha, my thoughts exactly. the third PS2 revision, Slim 90000 series, released in Sept 08' barely produces any heat at all with extremely small chipset.. The PS3 slim is using a chip that produces significantly lower heat.I already have one as well... But my cousin really wants one for Christmas, and now I can probably afford to get him one + a game. Plus, I'm also excited that the community is sure to be growing in the next year. And that means greater software support to an already outstanding lineup!haze_blaze
I like you Haze_Blaze, you are one of the very few people who post on this site that always says something intelligent.:)

Do you really have any idea what your are talking about?
They are cheaper to produce, produce less heat, and consume less energy

I would buy my brother or sister something nice, but I would never spend $300+ on my cousin.....screw that, I wouldn't even spend that on my brother or sister. I'd buy him/her a hat.

If you where into games when the PS2 slim came out a lot of people experienced more problems with that model. Remember they are using cheaper parts which means less reliability.[QUOTE="YoJim8obaJoe"]

my slimline ps2,got it and put it were my normal ps2 had sat happily for many years.Turn console on and it overheated in 3 hours, got replacement and same again. Also in instruction manuel it warns you not to play for more than 2 hours because of risk of over-heating.Thats were i got my info from, experience and manuel :)
Same, i like the look of the regular PS3 a lot more. They both play games, and thats what matters to me.. although i've read the PS3 Slim is having a few problems with regular CD's and DVDs.. if thats true, then they need to fix that up asap or they are going to be having a LOT of complaints.I have a ps3 so do't care. just bring on the new and exciting games.

The only thing I care about is that now if my PS3 breaks it will cost me $100 less to replace.
tlgex
I thing the replacement price is not reduced.
I mean to buy a whole new one. I wouldn't pay Sony to send me a refurb since I wouldn't trust it not to break again quickly anyways.
honestly I think most PS3 owners are against the slim because deep down they really want the Slim, or they feel inferior because it's something new. People are also noticing that the box art is changing and the welcome screen is changing to support the PS3 Slims logo over the old spiderman font. I have an 80gig BC PS3 and I have a PS3 Slim with 250HD. I PREFER THE SLIM. It'S QUITER, it uses LESS power, the fans are NOT as loud, and it allows your tv to control your PS3.... last but not least.... IT HAS AN UPGRADED Cell processor. I use the slim as my main PS3 and I'm going to either sell my other one or give it to a family member.
yea dont bother me much i have a ps3, but for new owners its great plus the price cut helps alsoYeah I already have one but for my friends that don't have one hmmmmm. I need more of my friends to pick one up so that we can play Uncharted 2 co-op. Gameing bliss!

Pretty much the 60GB is all I care about since its BC so if the launch PS3 I have ever goes bad its off to a pawn shop to get about launch PS3.I have a ps3 so do't care. just bring on the new and exciting games.

Well if you have a PS3, then no crap you don't care.
I got my PS3 Slim in the mail yesterday, and I'm lovin' it. :)
what is this nonesense of a more energy effecient system over heating? look I just want to know which is less likely to fail on me cause my elite is dieing on me and i want a reliable system also if the older model indeed is better then were can i get one since they are being phased out?
