Lately I've been using PSN to download the full games that they're putting up.

So far I've gotten: Borderlands, Warhawk, AC, ACII, ME2, TR:Underworld, Burnout Paradise, Infamous, and LittleBigPlant (Granted the last two were free)

I like it this way, games are always at my fingertips and never have to switch a disc. And best of all, they can't be stolen!

I like collecting boxes too because I love the artwork and showing off a collection and what not, but DD is very convenient, and quite frankly I don't have a problem with it taking over retail.

What is everyone else's opinion? I'll even add in a poll to keep things super simple.

I use steam for PC, but for my consoles, I'm 99.9% Box only. I love my boxes.

I only downloaded a full game one time and that was Borderlands. I like downloading games and having them on my hard drive. As you mentioned it beats switching out discs. Only bad thing about having downlaoded games if your PS3 were to break or malfunction then you lose your games unless you have a warranty. I want to downlaod Mass Effect 2 but it cost just a much as a box game. It should be 5-10 dollars cheaper because I don't have a game booklet or a box.

I collect games, so boxes are awesome. I still have more physical copies than downloadable, but I do like dls as well.

You can redownload your games onto another PS3 if you have activation slots left. If not, keep your serial number and call sony to deactivate that one. They'll deactivate a system at any time as long as you have the serial.

I don't like downloading full games as my hard drive space is limited. I prefer to have a collection of boxes.

The only game I own that is available in a box for PS3 as well is Infamous. I only own it though because of the welcome back program. I have Record of Agarest War as well which comes in the box for 360 but not for PS3.

I tend to buy games boxed for PSN unless it's a great deal (which is rare) as amazon and shopto generally sell the game cheaper with a physical copy. For my PC i use D2D, GOG and Steam alot for their sales which are usually very good but with new games i still buy a physical copy if i want them at release as they are usually same price. I'd download more but unless i download at night i often get throttled and charged extra by my isp so my online gaming suffers.

Understandable on that. I have a 120GB.. I have 143MB left right now, and haven't even downloaded one of the games yet..

But I'm upgrading to a 500GB next week. That should be plenty of room.

once dd becomes more standard and 1 tb becomes more common for console hdds like PC, i'll stop buying boxes. until then, there's just not enough games doing it this gen and it's a bit late to start.

The only full games I downloaded were those provided via "welcome back" program. I prefer the disk myself.

I'm kinda a newbie to the whole game downloading thing, I got about 3 full games on my HDD...Tekken DR, Infamous and Assasins Creed 2.Even though I got a decent amount of space on my HDD I prefer to reserve the space for MP4's, MP3's . Storing full games on the HDD is convenant but not something I want to take full advantage of.

For my PS3 I want the boxes. For my PC, I'm cool with downloading them off Steam. I don't know why, it just feels more natural. Plus Steam has deals PSN can never compare to.

If I have the choice of buying a boxed copy I'd ALways go for that I like to physically own my games. I know this may sound sad but I do like to look at my video game collection every now and then.

Digital distribution is amazing, but no one outside of the PC corporations have gotten it right, mainly because the networking in consoles is nowhere near as good as even low-end PC networking. In a generation or two when download speeds on consoles start to match those of PCs, then DD will start working. Until then, boxes will dominate.

Download full games from PSN? Dear God no! Aside from the fact I love boxes my internet is horrible!

It took more than 5+ hours just for the inFamous 2 demo.:x I couldn't imagine the wait for a full game.:?

I'm "pro-disk". The service craps out, something happens (server and/or hard drive), I'll always have the disk and I can play whenever I want with a working console.

The only full game I have is LBP and that's because I got it for free. If they offered a disk, I would've taken the disk instead.

The only time I've ever done it is for the Welcome Back program. Otherwise I prefer physical copies - I can sell them if I don't like the game and I don't have to re-download everything if my PS3 dies.

Thus, I hate digital distribution :P

I've only gotten PS1 classics (FFVIII and Tomb Raider 2) and the two free games in full. I wouldn't rely on it too much because my download speed is horrendously slow. I like collecting physical copies anyway. Fun to have displayed in my room.

Digital releases of retail games on the Playstation Store are just too damn expensive. I mean £50 for inFamous 2 that's a ridiculous price. I think I'm going to stick with boxed games right now.

There's one big thing you can't do with downloadable games and that's share them. Not to mention a downloadable game is only around as long as 1)your ps3 lasts without breaking and 2)It is available for download from the ps3 servers. A disk you pretty much have forever. Several years back I downloaded Chronicles of Riddick - escape from butcher bay from gamestop.com for pc. Not to long ago I went to re-download it and it was no longer available. Yah they gave me a voucher for a new game, but I wanted to play that game not a new one. Downloads are good for somethings but should remain only an option to buying the hard copy.

well i will download a few psn only games psone classics and games for my pspgo, but if the choice is to have a boxed copy or download i will always pick the boxed copy.. i like owning physical copies of my games.

i also like to buy the occasional collectors edition, and its quite upsetting that one day these will be no more when dd only becomes the norm.
