the only problem i had was near launch 3 months later when i got my first one ,,
the controller that came with it was defective,
i had to either pay to ship it to sony, which was total outrage so i took it back to the store lucky they had one more 60 gb, in stock . i got a new one then and since then no problems

If someone could make a 14 pound object fly in the air and out the window; with their legs. I'd worship.
But sorry for your loss. If my sister did that there, would be another reason why jack thompson would careen his ugly head on the internet...again.

I wouldn't worship her. I worship the one and only Haze...no offense, but these topics r getting old. n e how, call sony and talk to them. its usually i believe $150 to completley fix it. better than buying a new one altogether.ShadowBass989ya, but why do we have to pay if the system broke by itself. is there anyway i could convice them that i shouldnt pay.
[QUOTE="Floppy_Jim"]My first one had the Blu-Ray drive crap out after 13 months. Sony replaced it for free.Nikko_25how? thats over a year. the warranty is only for a year. I think we get a 2 year warranty in the UK.

Mines starting to, the BD players either over heating or the lasers crappin out, and of course my warranty is up by just 3 weeks :roll:TehSonofUglymine was up literally 4 days when my PS3 crapped out, luckily gamestop was really cool about it and let me trade it out, i had the product replacement plan with them, but it was great they still let me trade it out 4 days after the warranty ran out
what did you guys do? is it better to sent it to sony and pay alot or just go to a shop to get it fixed for cheap? and how much do you pay sony if your warranty is done?Nikko_25
My PS3 broke and i had to pay $150 to get it fixed. It broke again and i argued with sony until they exchanged it for a refurb since it was only 1 month after the 2nd warranty. If you fix it yourself, you void your warranty and any help sony would/could provide you with, so if it breaks again and you wished you could send it into sony next time around, you're screwed. Especially if you just have a crappy unit, you lose your chances of just getting a refurb from sony.
i was ganna haveto pay 180 quid (ps3 broke teh other day) But they said i can have a refurbished 60GB for free so i was like :DAltiar25:shock: Nice! :D When I first got my 40gb PS3 I didn't really care about BC, but since I never owned a ps2 (I don't know why) I've wished my console could play a few old ps2 games like GOW 1 & 2.
In November, my 60GB got the Yellow Light of Death. I called sony the next day (saturday) for them to ship out the coffin. It came on Monday, and got a new 60GB on Friday. I had to pay $190.94 (i live in canada and it is including tax). I have a 90 day warrenty for my refurbished system. Best thing is to send it to Sony. It's expensive, but i would rather have a company working for sony to repair my system.Sk8ter_213Same thing happened to me. Got the Yellow light on my 60gb. I was so pissed off. I lost everything, all my saved games, and the worst part is i never backed up any of my data. Taught me a lesson though. I bought it from Best buy and i got the 2 year warranty, so i was covered. I went in a couple of days after it broke and they gave me a brand new 80gb for $400 and a store credit for $100 but i renewed my warranty for another $60. So i guess i lucked out. Im gonna back up my data pretty soon.

My 8GB was fine, until my sister decided to take it upstairs. The idiot left it on for 3 days straight, and i didn't even know. I was too busy playing my Wii. I didn't ready ANY discs. So we sent it away, and it came back in a few weeks. They said they fixed the old one, but i'm pretty sure they just gave us a new one. Didn't have any scratches on it, and had the protect able tape still there. :dEnigmaBKRlol...you should of taken care of your ps3 more. was the hard drive new as well or its still your 8gb free space one?
