after months and months of waiting and surfing these forums i finally buy a 40gb ps3 sunday :D, I was wondering is the 40gb more prone to certain hardware or software problems....I know its been like a month so the answer would be "no" but It doesn't hurt asking...

also, are u (the 40gb consumer), enjoyin ur ps3?

thanx

I have a 60gig PS3 but do not hesitate on getting the 40gig believe me you will enjoy it its actually a lot more stable and even quieter then the 80 and the 60.

It uses like 70 watts less power, has the 65nm Cell, and has a redesigned motherboard and heatsink. If it hadn't lost the 60's BC it would be the superior sku. Taken as just a PS3 without a need for BC its definitely is the best sku. But I still love my 200gb "60" :P

I'm wondering whether to get a 60gb or 40gb.

Is there a way of getting music/pics/videos onto a 40gb via a copied CD/DVD or will the Ps3 not read copied material. What is the best method of getting files onto it since it doesn't have a memory card/stick reader?

Thanks

You can just use an external hard drive. A burned DVD with all your music would work as well. Just go to the music tab, triangle on the dvd icon, copy all, select all, ok, and away it goes.

I'm getting the 40 GB one as well! You all have convinced me about it. I don't care about BC because I'm really bored of the PS2 games I got. And I can always plugged it in if I want to play a game!

I'll be getting my PS3 on Thursday. I even took 3 days off from my job to have a lot of playing time! :P

I got a 40 gig from Kmart a week ago last sunday and I'm enjoying it. A few notes:

1. No BC for ps2 games( I was actually stupid and tried to put street fighter anniversary collection in it before I remembered)

2.2 usb ports, no card readers.(although you prolly would never use the card readers or all the usb ports at the same time. If you need more usb ports buy a usb hub)

3.No divx support.....yet.(it's coming though.)

4. Rent or buy warhawk. (This by far one of the funnest multiplayer games I have ever played. So much variety and wackiness)

5. You may still be able to use the 20% off one item at kmart coupon that has been floating around the net. That is what I used

40 gig 347 dollars after tax. 60 gig or 80 for 433 after taxes(i think)

For anyone that doesn't want the full experience of what the PS3 can do the 40 gig is a good deal. I have been enjoying my 60 gig version because of the BC and the card readers come in handy for me from time to time when needed. The card readers are great for viewing pictures from digital camaras.

Does that mean the 80gb isn't as good with ps2 games?

The 80 gig is just about as good as the 60 gig (just doesn't have the EE chip in the 80 gig in NA). Other than that there isn't a huge difference and in time with firmware updates the two should be the same in regards to backward compatibility.

Agreed. I have a 60gb, but I know that within time the 80 gb will be just as good. Right now, its pretty stinkin close, with the exception of a few games showing minor flaws. But each firmware upgrade helps out.

Another question about the 40gb! It says that no ethernet cable is included. However I have a wireless network at my house so will the 40gbps3 be able to connect to the web straight away via that? Is anything else needed?
