My favorite character is probably Sazh with Fang as a close second. I also liked Vanille mainly because of her accent. (Aussie/Kiwi are both awesome in my book). I don't know how many other people agree but I really don't care for Snow, definitely my least favorite of the main characters. Also IMO compared with other FF casts I would say average, my favorites being FFIV (primarily Cecil) and FFVI.
Definitely Sahz. He's the man. He has a great personality, he's got style, he's down to earth, and for a father of two young sons like myself he's definitely the most relateable. I really like them all, though, for one reason or another. Lightning is the female equivelent to Solid Snake (I can't stress this enough. she is!). Snow has an awesome never-back-down attitude. A lot of people take it for arrogance, but it looks more to me like heroic optimism. ;) Fang is tough as nails (she's the best sentinel. Sorry, Snow). Vanille is the cutesy one. Both of them have sexy accents. Hope was my least favorite but he makes the biggest overall change in the game. He developes more than any other character (which makes sense since he's still a young buck) and he does a lot to hold the team together.
Haven't finished it yet but I do like Sazh, his haircut is amazing .. also I woudn't mind if a samurai / soldier jumped out of the sky and killed vanille while she was praying at the church.
Vanille. Personality wise the other characters (with the exception of Snow) are very emo'ish and Vanille helps perk things up a bit. Combat wise, her Death spell has saved me countless of hours in farming.

Vanille(so cute and not annoying at all) and Sazh(just plain awesome and dual pistols) stole the show for me. The two of them together are just priceless. Sazh is the best to watch in battle and alone Hope is my over all fav(I still find it funny that everyone thought Hope would be this games cat sith) Hope's struggle is heart wrenching.
