I was wondering who keeps their PS3 display set at 720p max?  I have 32in LCD tv and I think the 720p looks a little better here and there than 1080i.   Maybe my eyes are playing tricks on me...anyone else do the same?

I keep my PS3 on 720p even though my TV can support up to 1080i. If I'm going to watch a Blu-Ray movie, I'll put it on 1080i.

720p on my tv looks terrible, it shows up these lines and makes the shadow problem more obvious (sign of an aging tv)......1080i is better

I leave mine on the 1080i setting and just go through the screen flicker when it changes to 720p everytime a 720p game is put in, so I don't have to switch it when I watch BRs and play 1080i games.

I keep it on 1080i because Marvel looks like garbage in 720p.

I leave mines on 720p because it's native resolution is 1368 by 768 (or something around it). although it supports 1080i, the tv's native resolution is near 720p, so 720p would be better. Someone will eventually clarify this out for you, i think...

I didn't think the PS3 could do 1080i. :?... Even if it can, I don't even know how to change my resolution. It seems to select it for me. >_>

Your tv is going to convert it to 1080i not 720p so don't see how it would look better.... Here is the question - which game are you referring too? If you are refering to a 720p game that you set the output to 1080i ONLY on the PS3 then you are getting 480p which would make the 720p option look better....... I have mine set to output everything except 1080p and it works great

I keep mine at 720p, and it looks a little better than 1080i.  I guess it depends on the TV. I have a 34 inch Sony Wega.

I have an older HDTV that doesn't support 720p but does support 1080i... So, I'm glad to hear that I'll be ok with the PS3 when I get one.  It was a concern of mine.

I can't help but notice that most people that are using a 720p setting have a smaller TV, which makes sense since that would be the native resolution making 1080i a converted image.  Generally speaking you don't need the higher resolutions unless you have a TV that makes use of them.

No such thing as a 1080i TV unless you're talking about CRT projectors and HD tube TVs.

That's exactly the case with me. I have a native 768p that supports up to 1080p. But I just use 720p since it's closer to 768p.

Definitely. On 1080p everything looks too small. Or atleast on my TV it does.
