who says graphics arent everything?

Nobody thinks that graphics are "everything" americahellyeah

bpoole96 will only play a game if it's good to look at. i like graphics but they don't make a game for me but sometimes they can make the game unbearable if the other game elements are mediocre at best.xX_-X-_Xx

This is a lie sir. I do not play games based entirely on graphics. In this generation of gaming, decent graphics are nearly standard. Games like Rainbow 6 Vegas 2 are straight up unbearable. The graphics of that game are bad for a ps2 game, therefore after paying $600 for a ps3, I would like to play games that look like they are made for the system I bought. Not every game I have has great graphics. Army of Two and Ninja Gaiden Sigma have pretty standard graphics and I played them quite a bit. It just turns out that the big titles for Ps3, also have good graphics.

as long as a game makes good use of the power of a next gen console its fine for me, like LBP, doesn't have good graphics (IMO), there's details thats for sure, but graphics in this game won't impress anyone, gameplay can

graphics are nothing, art directions everything. art direction makes what you see actually interesting and cohesive to the story. graphics are just a tool for that, and developers forgot that. to many games, specialy fps, that look exactly the same theres not creativity at all weather its ww2 or modern day or futurisitc its got that washed out film grainy look.

which isn't even realistic it just looks like film. im glad they discovered post processing effects but try to use more then one. i personally think the hardware this gen has killed visuals everything is easier to create theres less creativity involved and you end up getting a bunch of games that look the same. not to mention the worst thing about this gen is that everything seems to take a back seat to graphics AI story gameplay mechanics.

the AI thing really bugs me because everyone spending so much time on graphics and physics and yeah it looks cool but if wanted something that looks cool ill rent an action film which will always look better. i want to actually feel im in it and if my enemies are brain dead drones that instantly takes me out of the game.

i think AI is way more important then graphics, heck i'd put graphics at the bottom of the list down there with sound as the least most important part of a game. (and by graphics i mean on a technical level not art direction, since for the most part that what people are talking about and thats what devs refer to when talking about graphics)

There is a balance: good games don't need good graphics, but that is hadrly an excuse. I have played mediocre games with great graphics (Far Cry) and they are still mediocre, or great games with mediocre graphics (I still enjoy some Budokai in my PS3), but I can put things in context. I don't mind games in the Store that have regular graphics if they have great gameplay, but I can't tolerate retail games that don't have at least decent graphics.

That is why I can play PSN and PS2 games in an HD TV, but can't stand the new Disgaea (looks crapy, in a lazy way). On the other hand, great graphics don't mean automatic buy for me (I wasn't really interested in Uncharted, for example)

I'm not particularily interested in offroad racing, which explains why I don't play the Motorstorm game that was bundled with my PS3, but I was about to buy Pacific Rift just because it's so pretty.

I'm not particularily interested in offroad racing, which explains why I don't play the Motorstorm game that was bundled with my PS3, but I was about to buy Pacific Rift just because it's so pretty.

I would have bought motor storm if only it looked as awesome as it did on the PS3 pre launch trailers, but instead of bikes exploding and leaving fire and all that cool stuff shown, you just disappear and respawn

no, graphics don't add "depth" at all. Gameplay and controls are what add depth to a game, graphics are just used to make the "simple" people think a game is going to be good to hook them into getting hyped about the game and then buying it. Even if it's a pretty looking turd of a game.

Graphics are the first thing I take into consideration. If graphics are not great it isn't going to bother me too much, it is the gameplay that sways my decision, one game that will prove graphics arent everything is World of Warcraft.

I play World of Warcraft along with 11million others and the graphics are nothing special, it is the gameplay the make people keep going back to it.

Graphics aren't everything. It's not even important to me. In fact, I don't like really nice graphics.

Graphics should suit the game. The kind of graphics I prefer is Saints Row 2 graphics. :)
