I sold mine back in May WAY before PS3 came out and I regret it thinking I would get the most cash out of it selling early. I was wrong an extra $50 wasnt worth it, I missed out on so much PS time I was upset cause the 30 games I own just stared at me and i couldnt play... I play my PS2 games an PS3 games (sometimes PS1) everyday. RE4, GoW, Black, MGS3 so many awsome games I can't just leave it all behind for PS3. Too many good games to leave in the dust. Getting a PS3, now I can enjoy my old games again, I'm so happy! XD
Well I didn't really "sell" my PS2, I did trade it in though. I had a PRP from BB on my last PS2, and I got it for nothing due to the exchange program when my last one failed on me, and I got a 150 dollar voucher for trading in this last one, so it was really worth it, it was the only reason I decided to get the PS3 this early on, since I could still play my PS2 games and only pay 450 bucks for the PS3, it was a win, win for me.Â
Until they make an adapter to connect guitar hero, beatmania, taiko controllers to the ps3...I have to keep the ps2. Also until they let me hook up the ps2 controller, amplitude and frequency don't feel right either (due to the new L2 and R2 buttons)
I never sell my systems. I actually waited outside curcuit city in nyc since 11/14/06 to get my PS3. I would neve sell my PS2 or any other system. I still have my genesis...Lol.
I traded mine in the week before I bought my PS3. I figured that since the BC was so great, I really didn't need to hold on to a PS2 if I have a PS3. Good thing I did it now before Sony starting taking stuff away from new US systems!

I sold my Xbox, PS2, and over 50 games to get an in store credit for PS3 way back in July of 2005. I had to hold myself over with a PSP for more than a year. The money I got wasn't as much as I felt it should have been but it was enough to drastically reduce the hit that buying a 600.00 dollar system brings. It was rough not having a system to play Madden 07 on (PSP isn't really good for Madden) but from what I hear it wasn't that good anyway.
I hung on to mine as a back up dvd player and for PS2 games that dont run on the PS3 , although that number is getting lower and lower all the time it's just a smart thing to do when there's no real monetary gain for getting rid of it.

I thought they were just taking stuff away from the uk systems? True, but you can bet that the US and the rest of the world will get the same treatment in the near future as well. Doesn't make sense to do it in one territory and not the other. I'm pretty sure all countries will move to the software approach vs the hardware approach really soon.
i went and sold my ps2 back in october or somthin to get a ps3 for xmas, but then it got delayed and i was gutted!! and now the arsehols have just told the uk that they cant play most of their ps2 games on the ps3 and i still have all my ps2 games!! wtf do i do now?? buy anutha ps2! i dunno i cant sell my games! god sometimes sony reeli piss me off coz they always screw with the uk! its so bloody unfair!!!
I sold my Slim PS2 to a friend about a week after I had my PS3. He gave me Ridge Racer 7 (PS3) and lunch. Gamestop / EB Games was only going to give me $50 for it. :? With my friend, I got probably $80 worth. Much better :)
Yup sold both mine, slim and a fatty back in Oct when EB had a trade in deal, got 75 for the slim and 65 for the fatty in trade towards the PS3, well worth it. Traded my GC for a Wii and my Xbox for a 360 as well. No need to keep the old tech for nothing.
I sold mine (an original fatty PS2 from launch) a week or 2 after getting the PS3. Threw it on ebay with the multitap, 4 controllers, steering wheel, and about a dozen old worthless games. Got $200 for it, so I was happy.
I had my slim PS2 for a couple weeks before I gave it to a friend of mine who still had a fatty PS2 with a dysfunctional disc drive, he needed it in a bad way (literally addicted to FFXII) and I just got a PS3 so I figured why not.Â
i sold mine, but i did the eb $100 trade in thing, even though i loathe the store, jacksonville is mainly populated with mainstream stores with the exception of art/music stores and the like...
Why would I sell my ps2? I wouldn't get a worthwhile amount of money for it, maybe 40 bucks. My ps2 is still hooked up, I've been playing Okami and Final Fantasy Tactics on it. My PS3 is downstairs close to my access point, because it allows for high internet connection quality. My PS2 is in my bedroom, which allows for a little bit of gaming right before going to sleep.
i've got my ps2 on launch day and i ever won't sell this beauty! first of all it was my first gaming console i've ever purchased. another thing you have to consider is the next fact....you almost get no money for your ps2. i consider my ps2 a nice piece of hardware with more awesome games i am able to play. i will never sell my ps2!
I believe I do have a pretty 7 year old object in my room...the original bulky thing I think most forgot about...I never had the slim PS2...I missed out...didn't I? And it'll be pointless to buy one now since I have the PS3...
traded mine in at gamestop for 30 bucks, only to find out less than a month later they were running that $100 trade in deal for a ps3....lame but oh well i have the best system out there so im not too upset about it!
I had PS2 sometime ago but I sold it to have enough money for xbox360. Nevertheless I really love the idea behind some ps2 games like Canis Canem Edit, Metal Gear Solid 3 Subsistence and God of War 1-2. Right now I'm very happy with my xbox360 but I still going to buy PS2 again to enjoy these great games. Thats why I'm so sad that PS3 may not support these games by the time it is released here in EU. I still admire all you fans of gaming because nonetheless who "wins"? system wars - the true winners are TRUE gamers. I salute you all!!
Next gen is not about graphics, physics or prosessor power -its about immersion.
