are any of you that have a ps2 planning on upgrading to a ps3?? i kno i am...i wouldnt upgraded on the ps3 launch, but i didnt have the money for it.....i still dont have money, but im working on that right now....also if u do own a ps2 and dont have a ps3 yet(if u plan on getting one) why are u holding off??
thats good....but theres like a billion ps2 owners out there that havnt upgraded yet..im jus trying to figure out why atleast half of them havnt yet..i already explained my reason....dont have to money, but once i do, im getting it immediatly...im also wondering wat happened to all the sony fans
Yeah, i'm gonna be getting one soon... my excuse for not getting one yet was the lack of games but the reason was i didn't have the money for it, but i will soon : )

yah this is true, and ive been putting my ps2 to great use right now playing all the great games that came out on it that i missed..like Jak n Daxter, i missed the whole series, and now im playing it again....i missed out on ICO, and i saw my cousin had it so i borrowed it from him and im also enjoying that as well...i jus recently bought Guitar Hero 2, and OMG! the game is seriously extremely addicting!! there is no reason to put the ps2 away jus yet....but i still think its nice to upgrade..cuz u can play both old games and new games together....and since there arnt much great games out for ps3 at the moment, the lil few that they do have out i do believe are most definatly worth playing! and i think its actually cool to not have much great games out for ps3 at the moment cuz once im done beating a good ps3 game i can go back to playing all those awsome ps2 games ive missed out on...like i stated above i dont have a ps3 yet, but this is the strategy imma be using once i get mines, i kno alot of you out there have different opinions thats why i made this topic, to see where u stand
Yes I plan on upgrading once the price drops. But I will not get read of my ps2 until sony gets all the bugs worked out with playing ps2 games on the ps3. Once they have a update that fix all that, I will.
i just dont have the money right now but by august i will have more than enough plus no good games that are out really intrest me anyway at least until one of these come out Heavenly Sword, the new naughty dog game, Lair, God of War 3, Ninja Gaiden Sigma, Resident Evil 5, Devil May Cry 4
I upgraded already its much better since i got a hdtv but just be prepared to pay a large sum :( for the console games and controler but for me it was worth it :D
In feburary I upgraded to the PS3, but before i did i was like most of the people that posted before me. I wanted to continue to play my PS2 Games in my curant libary, but after a lot of research I found out that 99 percent of my libary could be played on the PS3. So it appeared to me that this aurgument wasn't working anymore.The second reason I upgraded was the fact i had upgraded my TV to a HDTV and the PS2 really didnt look good on it anymore. To my surprise all of my titles looked great and in some cases even played and looked better playing the PS3 God of War for one, Final Fansty X11 really looked great. I too grrr When i dished out the 600 smackers, but i can say with a straight face it was worth every penny. The third reason i got my PS3 is i love Movies and I love the HD Movies. Seeing that the PS3 is a true progresive scan and supports HD With out having to dish out more money it fits no need for a new dvd player. HD and Blue ray are new but as of today Blue ray has more movies by a rate of 3-1 over the HD so i think it's safe to say that Blue ray probally has won this war. I don't think Sony will lower the price anytime soon seeing we americans exspect to have the backwards compatabilty they wont be able to eliminate the PS2 engine thats in the PS3. I will give Sony the kudos they are thinking for the future not the quick buck.. I say this because like it or not HDTV will be mqanditory with in the next 2 years which means are Standard set we have now will be worthless and the PS2 will die with it. Such a shame too i love my PS2 but the future has a way of sneaking up on us quickly. I also see that by fall over 100 titles will be around to play. have to admit sony out did X-box in the speed of titles with in the first year. well i hope this answer your question.

ive owned alot of consoles and handhelds, but ive had the best experiences with sony's consoles, and handheld.....everything else just doesnt compare to me, thats why i KNOW im getting a ps3, and i KNOW that there will be a grip of dope games to come out for it in the future...even if its only from first party, they make the best games IMO
I'll probably buy one next holidays. A lot of great stuff might happen until then : price drop, awesome bundle, new SKU, etc. However, I don't think I'll trade in my PS2. I'll keep it for compatibility issues, especially for Guitar Hero I and II.

u kno that an update jus released that lets you use old ps1 and ps2 controllers on the ps3, with rumble and all for every ps2 game, and that also means the guitar hero controllers also work...u jus need an adapter for it, that u can get anywhere....BUT like you, im not trading in my ps2 also....jus so i can have it..lol..ive kept all of my old sony consoles.
I already have a ps3 as well as a ps2. I still use the ps2 sometimes because i play japanese imports VERY easy on it. Besides the imports, i typically use the ps3 for any playstation game.

Gamestop gave me $100 toward my PS3 from trading in my PS2. I then traded in my 360 and sold my Wii. Got myself a new PS3. Not sure if you can get more for your PS2 if you sold it on Ebay though.. But expect $100 from Gamestop (which isn't that bad).
I just switched over yesterday and I am really amazed @ the potential of the PS3. Granted there isn't much support for it, but once the price goes down, it will be ok.
yup...PS3 fanboy right here-i own every original Playstation since the old gray PSX lol-no redesigns though, my launch PS2 and old gray PSX are still working fine, and i use my PSP a lot. The only thing keeping my PS2 from the basement is Guitar Hero, though, and the PSP homebrew community has given it a lot more uses- it's even my TV remote lol
i am sometime next year. waiting for some games to get cheap, and the system to get cheaper as well. i'll be playing my ps2,wii and DSÂ til around the mid of next year.
ok now i donr have a ps3 yet and i still have my ps2...i dont have one yet because of the money and if i did have the money then i still wouldnt buy when yet...all the good game releases are in september so im gettin mine around august...yay
i've been kicking it around for quite a while now. i'm going to wait for the price to drop, and i need to buy and HDTV to take advantage of it, otherwise it will only look slightly better on my CRT.
