I am new to the 3D experience in gaming and listening to everyone I was skeptical to make that leap. I must say enjoy it to the fullest. Playing Killzone 3, Gran Turismo, and the new God of War Origins collection is an out of the world thing to see. I love the depth and the projections it seems to send out at you.

I am just curious why so much hate towards 3d gaming let alone 3d media in general?

I watched Captain Eo in 3d back in the 80's at Disney Land. So I'm not blown away by 3d.

I don't know the glasses I have are pretty nice. They are comfortable and not that heavy ish that it use to be. Samsung did a pretty good job with them, and no one complains when they put them on to watch or play anything.

So, is it really just the glasses and then I know the price can be kind of crazy? They have come down a lot though.

I remember those 3d rides as well :) but I just think the 3d gaming is actually pretty cool. I know the glasses can be a bother to some, but I am sure within 4-5 years they will not be needed.

I really just think it seems like the cool thing to do is to trash talk 3d gaming. I was one of them, but then I tried it and I was hooked. It doesn't take the place of anything just cause it is 3d but it is a nice thing to have. To totally dismiss it is something I do not understand though.

I have the Samsung LED SmartTv and the glasses that come with that fit right over my glasses. In fact they have a little nook that holds them in place.

I understand that problem though.

People hate 3D because they don't want things to change. It makes them uneasy to think they would have 3D television and having to put glasses on to play a videogame. I don't understand any of the hate for 3D. Some say it makes their head hurt, big deal don't watch in 3D, it makes no sense to say that 3D is dumb because of that. Thats like saying reading a book while being driven is stupid because it makes me carsick. No logic at all.

Its depth 3D, its not the 3D that jumps out at you, thats why people hate it.

it's still on the "a bit more" expensive side and many people here have decent hd systems, either recently bought or need not to be upgraded at the moment... however i do believe that if people are going to be replacing their tvs, they will most probably consider 3d tv sets, since they have stellar 2d capabilities as well... :)

3D is nothing but a crutch being used by companies to try to improve games, when really they should be focusing on actual gameplay. It's kind of like how movies say "hey, we have 3D!" and hope that people will go see it because of that.

yea i went to disney world when i was 14 (i'm 24 now) and that 3d blew me away. like someone said this is just depth 3d. plus for myself, i can't see the 3d, as i have a stronger eye than the other and only use one to focus on wot im playing, so 3d doesn't even work for me and i find you lose alot of the colour with the glasses and it seems dark. and some people where glasses, which i do now, and i found it uncomfortable wearing thwem, also due to how 3d is done it can strain your eyes, and 3ds soon will be reality, on tv's that children will soon have rubbish eye sight. due to how 3d is made.

i don't hate 3d it's a nice addition for people to play, but im not sure it can truly had much to the experience except pulling it out of the tv slightly, i'm holding out for vr, and hologram floor tv's or something what projects into the middle of the room in 4d.

3D effects is distracting and drags me out of the experience. mind you I don't hate 3D I can kinda like it when it embraces it's gimmicky side and just try to go for a WOW effect tho since it's such a small part I don't want to have permanent 3D and sure as hell ain't paying for all the extras for a few seconds long flashy effect

3d is a gimmick best left to disney attractions and Imax. I will not sit in my living room making friends/family wear glasses to watch tv at my house. this is ridiculous. and who cares about 3d on a 47in tv? i have a 3ds and the 3d might work and everything, but that isnt why i got it.

Yes, Gran Turismo in 3D is pretty wicked, but I'd be lying if I said my eyes didn't feel like they were going to bleed after too much play. Oddly enough, I feel that fast moving games task the eye more, at least from my experience. BTW, if you like 3D try TUMBLE if you have the psMOVE. Best Move/3D game out there.

Last time I mentioned 3D to my wife she said something like "Instead of a romantic evening snuggled up on the sofa together we could be a couple of bug-eyed dorks with our big goggles on."

I dunno, it's just a gimmick that doesn't interest me at all.

If it didn't interest you you wouldn't have mentioned it to your wife. And because of a someone elses negative response which is a very shallow one they got you to view it differently. Happens to me too, I'll mention 3D to someone and they'll be like "meh" it looks dumb. A better respons would be "yeah that looks cool but I don't think I'll like it BECAUSE....blah blah blah." People that only say negative things are negative people and I glad I don't listen to them anymore. Someone that says the pros AND cons I'll listen to 100%.

I have a 3DTV, and my disapointment with it stems not from the technology, but from its implementation. I have yet to encounter a game that was better played in 3D. The reason for this comes down to how well the 3D is coded, but our beloved PS3 simply cannot handle hidef 3D gaming. EVery game without exception has to compromise to produce a 3D image, some are more obvious than others but the result is that your game looks worse for the effort. if you have a 3DTV and a copy of black ops, launch it split screen in 3D. Your eyes will bleed its so bad. Then take a really nice looking 1080p game like wipeout, and switch it to 3D, it doesnt look half as good as in 2D. This is the problem, hopefully it will be sorted with PS4

I feel wipeout and Super Stardus play better in 3D, and Tumble is ONLY playable in 3D, imo.

imo 2, any 3D game looks and plays better in 3D to me , yeah the 3D games run in a 720p resolution , but most ps3 games do anyway even without 3D

I really think 3d will come and go just like it has in the past. It's a generation-based fad. It'll vanish again and sure enough some years down the road emerge again.

Then I would say to you Amnesiahaze that you are smoking to much to notice that the texture resolutions in these games are cut in half in 3D modes. :) Wipeout is a good example of the tech but there is a huge difference in quality running it 2D 1080p compared to 3D with reduced textures. Super stardust does it well though, I have to admit. The difference with that game is barely noticable, but ALL titles run at reduced quality in 3D modes. Its not a case of running it at 720p, the textures are different than in a non 3D mode. By different, I mean the DPI and quality of each texture is reduced to cope with the additional task of producing each one twice. I have tumble but havnt tried it in 3D mode. Ill give it a go if people think its worth it though.

well, i guess i gotta check it out once prior to smoking :D but there maybe something true about it , if you mean that some textures are more blurry in 3D i have noticed that too , but the 3D depth still makes the game look better to me , i agree that the games still have to catch up in 3D mode , if you compare it to to 3D movies for example the difference is huge, i guess next gen will improve that

1) Alot of people just recently switched from SD T.V's to HD just before 3D TV's came out.
2) 3D is tacked on in most cases.
3) I hate wearing glasses on top of my glasses, im sure many people do...
4) Some people cant see 3D and it gives people headaches. (Not all mind.)

I dont hate 3D, im just not seeing whats cool about pop out, i do enjoy the depth though.

lol, haze's ftw that is exactly what I mean, the actual textures themselves are reduced in quality to cope, thats why its looks more blurry and less sharp, how much damage this does depends on the game, which is why I used the example of black ops, a game that clearly had litte development put into the 3D mode, in comparison, lets say to GT5 or Killzone 3. It really depends on how much effort is put into it, but the PS3 can barely handle games running at 1080p, let alone 1080p in 3D (twice the image). We really need a PS4 to show the full potential of 3D, so that we can enjoy HiDef games with the origonal textures in 3D. This for me, would make alot of difference. I cannot currently enjoy reducing texture quality for added depth, its like taking with one hand and giving with the other. We need both, rather than a compromise between fidelty and depth.

Personally, I don't like 3D. Bothers my eyes, gives me a headache, and distracts me from what I'm watching/playing. Still, I don't have anything against games that use 3D. Uncharted 3, Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One, God of War Origins HD, Sly Cooper HD Collection, Team Ico HD Collection, etc. are all compatible with 3D but I'm not complaining just as long as I don't have to use it.

I don't necessarily hate it, but so far every 3D thing I came in contact with gave me severe headache, which is one of the main reasons why I generally prefer 2D over it.

I only dislike 3D because its a technology that simply isn't ready to be produced efficiently, let alone becoming mainstream. Game developers still haven't harnassed the full power of current gen consoles. We still only have games that can't even produce native 720p and run at 60fps, heck not even 40fps. How about mastering full HD and smooth gameplay before trying to push an technology that already failed decades ago.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, the industry is trying to run before they learned how to crawl.

people are broke, some just got their first HD tv within the last year.....Technology is a fast moving hobby...People buying hundreds for an i phone, must know thet 3 more will be out within that year...

So you got 2 choicies, go with the flow and when something new comes out, purchase and enjoy,,,or you can wait wait and wait for that better product to come out, really to only have something better to follow....

It's eye trickery and it's a marketing fad that has been done a thousand times before, the exact same way. Now you "buy a TV" along with $200 glasses. They get away with it because we live in a society where people stand in line for three days for a $600 "upgraded apple device" every couple of years.

They're a million times better than the eye straining optical 3D. Still i'm not a fan of 3D but if i had to choose between 3DS type 3D and glasses 3D, i'd have glasses 3D every time.

I like having the option to play in 3D. I LOVE Motorstorm Apocolypse in 3D and i cant even play that game in 2D. The technolgy is not perfect, but i am still having a good time with it. Do i want to play every game in 3D all the time, no, but sometimes its nice.

oh yeah, the glasses are getting much cheaper these days, they are not $200. Most are less than $100 and soon will be $60 when the Sony PS3 3D monitor comes out.

Motorstorm Apocalypse is great in 3D! I also played the Black Ops campaign in 3D and was very impressed. I also don't understand the hate that 3D is getting. I've read that the addition of 3D into a game is relatively inexpensive for the developer and not a very long process either, so if they can possiblysell a few thousand more games because of it, why not? I definitely don't play all my 3D games in 3D all the time, but I prefer it and do it when I know it will enhance my experience.
