Just set up my PS3 today... the connection is working in that it let me download the system update 1.7, allowed me to sign up and create a user name for PSN, and connects to the internet browser, but if I try to enter the Store or play a game online, it just pauses and then says that it "Timed out". What the hell??

I have a 20gb so I'm sharing the wireless connection from my laptop through the ethernet cable... Everything seems to be set up correctly though - otherwise, why would the firmware download and browser work? Doesn't make sense.

well I asked because I use the wireless and i can always download and get on the browser and every now and then i'll get signed out of PSN.  Hasn't happened while playing an online game tho.

So now the Connection Test succeeds all the way through, but I STILL can't connect to the store. WTF?!

I want to smash this thing to bits right now...

The PSN Is unstable rite now lol. I gain access to all internet related things, except for in-game in resistance and motorstorm, my only games, which both use sony's servers i presume.

You may have to reset your router , that is if you're using one.  I got a new modem a couple of weeks ago from my cable provider and when I hooked everything up (my pc, a 360, and a PS3) I couldn't connect with the PS3. My pc and 360 went on fine, but it took me a 1/2 hour to figure I had to reset my router/switch (or whatever you're using).

I only tried that because I remember when SOCOM 1 came out all my friends were having trouble hooking there PS2s up online. Once we figured to power up the modem first, then the routers, things started working fine. Good Luck.

Well I reset the router and now Connection Test gives me a Type 2 NAT rating (it used to be Type 3) - but I STILL can't get into the network. This is insane. Good old 80710B23 error will haunt me forever.
