I really like the concept behind the game and Fumito Ueda's team artstyle and all, but lets not fool ourselves, when was this game confirmed for a 2010 release date for the U.S? This game could very well come out in late 2011 for all we know. Perhaps the Japanese can look forward to the game a little earlier but thats about it, a 2010 date for any region is wishful thinking I believe, based on past experiences this gen, I wont believe that TLG is coming out next year unless of course they prove me wrong releasing the game before DEC 31st, 2010 :P

The only thing I guess is to wait and see. I didn't like the trailer so I won't be interested in the game at all.

I believe em. Team Ico isn't Square Enix. I'm sure they will stay true to their release date and wouldn't have announced it yet if the game wasn't at least 1/3 done.

BELIEVE!

I personally wouldn't mind knowing a little more about the game before getting all excited about it. Looks ok...looks...they have a reputation and some looks.

Yeah, people should be prepared for a the possibility of a 2011 release. I'd honestly be surprised if it releases in next year.

But they didn't even give a release date (at least I don't think they did)...

Team ICO have an "Olympic cycle" where their games are released every 4 years. I think SOTC came out in 2005 or 6.

It doesnt matter when it will be released- the more time Ueda puts into making it his vision the better imo

Both are Sony's in-house studios though, and quite the perfectionist kind of devs.

Well, they won't need translation as all the games speak in some fictional language besides both Ico and Shadow of the Colossus were released in NA before Japan. Just something to consider;)

the real question is: why not?? they haven't said that it'll be out in 2011 either so we must assume it's gonna be out on 2010. They already showed a substancial amount of footage(unlike MG:Rising :()to make me think that the game's gonna be out late 2010. If not, then it wouldn't be so unusual either, I don't get why you had to post about it, it's not that peculiar.

From the title I thought you were going to bash the game, anyway I suppose it's going to be late 2010, as somebody already say they are not Square Enix, they can't keep everybody waiting indefinitely it's not FF, but I also dislike when publishers preview just CGI, I like to take at least a glimpse of gameplay in the first trailers so I know they have started developing

I agree, I seriously don't think the game will be coming out in the US or Europe in 2010. That, I feel, is very unlikely.

That may be the case but we are PS3 fans. It is our duty to hype games we wont be able to play for three years.

The game's a long ways away but I've already made a speculative outline of the plot.

*SPOILERS*

Possiblity 1: Boy dies. Sad ending.

Possiblity 2: Griffin-rat-bird thing dies. Sad ending.

Possiblity 3: 'Puff the Magic Dragon' -ish storyline. Sad ending.

Comments?

the reason is that those who played ICO and Shadow of the Colossus(me included) know what kind of vision Ueda-san has for his games, we know what he wants us to experience just by basing our judgment on his first 2 games. The reason why we are so attached to them is because the games make you feel attached, its the aspect of having different emotions towards elements in his games that makes us excited for it. For example, in ICO, once you rescue the the captive female, you are constantly holding her hand throwout the story. It make you feel attached to the character. The second was about reliying on your Horse Argo to rescue your dead loved one and show you how far you will go to bring her back to life. And The Last Guardian is not different, he glues you to this creature that you have to take care of all while surviving, and being thankful for when it saves you because you are just a weak little boy. Hope that's not too big of a comment for ya.

Nope it wasn't too big and thanks for replying, I share your admiration for fumito ueda, although, production costs for video games have increased and the bar is always setting itself higher, there is a lot of pressure on Team Ico's shoulders as we speak. I believe its a little unrealistic on our part to expect a 2010 release date given the circumstances.

Why not? For all we know they could have started work on this one as soon as they got a dev kit. I honestly think this is more likely as I don't think Fumito Ueda would have the revealed the game too early after seeing what's happen to other games that have done this (FFXIII, Killzone 2 etc.). I have a feeling he'd give us just enough time to get excited and hyped but not enough so that people start thinking it'll be the second coming of Christ.

Well prepare to be owned Mr Bean because I believe the game will definitely be out before Dec 31 2010 :D Now Team Ico's last game came out in 2005 and the PS3 released in 2006, knowing Team Ico they were probably already thinking up ideas for their next game, while also playing around with the PS3 hardware/dev kit in 2006/7. Rumours started circulating about Team Ico's next game in 2007 and I feel they actually started developing the game in early 2008. So by the time it comes out late next year the game would have been in development for 3 years, more then enough to get it finished and polished for release. Saying that I don't want Team Ico to release the game under pressure, I want them to be fully happy with the finished product and I feel a 2010 release is definitely not out of the question.
