Why bother with the Prestige Edition?

The Prestige Edition is probably the biggest rip off this gen so far. Do you honestly need the Night Vision Goggles?! You play with them once and then they'll be thrown in a closet somewhere to be used maybe once every couple months. 180 euro is how much it costs here in Ireland. For 180 I could buy 3 brand new PS3 games or possibly 6 to 7 used games for my PS3. So why would people spend 180 euro on crap when all you want is the game! :roll:

Why do you bother about making a topic about people buying it? Some people just want to buy it because they love the game that much. If it bothers you so much that some people want to waste money than you got some problems.

I'm just getting the regular condition cause I'm broke. :P

Well ya lol. I dunno how people can spend money on these goggles when the economy is the way it is.

You're technically right from money perspective, however there are people out there who do collect special items. The good things is, you don't have to buy it, it's optional.

The only CE Edition I got this generation was MGS4 and I already paid of for Demon's Soul Collectors Edition.

I'm very picky when it comes to CE editions since I really don't find 90% of those offers worth spending money on - including Modern Warfare 2.

Either way, it's an option and not a requirement.

The issue that I have is when special edition game introduces game specific bonuses you don't have in regular version of the game but that's another topic.

I'm buying it.

I collect gaming-themed items to decorate my gaming room with and, to me, the Prestige Edition is a worthy collectible to add to my collection.

Besides, I'm getting it for $57.23 with release day delivery, far less than the $150 retail price (50% off coupon from Amazon and other promotions) so it won't even be as expensive as the regular edition for me.

I'm buying it.

I totally agree with you on that, you only get useless crap with this prestige edition. Normally when you buy a collectors edition you get some stuff that would help you with the game or a nice book of artwork, this is just all useless and childish, wtf do I need a night vision gogles for? To play spy in my house when every1 is sleeping?

A nice art book would be worth paying for as long as its only like 5-10 euro/dollars extra but your paying approximately triple the price of the standard edition of MW2 if you want to get the Prestige Edition.

I can see why people want it. But me personally I refuse to spend 150 dollars on some Chuck-E-Cheese NVGsK1LLR3175

Do I need the night vision goggles? No.

Do I want to renact my favorite Splinter Cell moments by snapping my brother's neck when the lights go out? Hell yes.

Hardcore COD fans will buy this because they need the NV googles to stalk and carry out night operations.

If I had the money I would get it. If only so I could wonder where's the effing goat when I get stuck in Jurassic Park.

both hardened and prestige have artwork and your just paying more for some useless NV goggles, if you dont need artwork books or the original CoD just get th standard ed.vovavoom

All CE's are pointless, I don't care about artbooks and knick-knacks
