Why can't my 8 year old play Madden 08 online with a PS3 sub account?

I just got a PS3. I have created a master account and I can play Madden 08 on-line okay. I created a sub account for my child and I entered my child's year of birth as 1999 since my child is 8 years old. My child cannot play Madden 08 on-line. My child gets this error message when trying to playMadden 08 on-line... "ACCOUNT ERROR. Thank you for your interest. Were sory, but you are not old enough to access online content. Please continue to enjoy all of the other great features in your game."

I have adjusted and turned off all of the parental control settings [that I could find]. I have googled and searched the Sony site at http://playstation.custhelp.com/ but I could not find anything that would fix my problem. I want to allow my child to play G and T rated PS3 games on-line.

What settings do I have to adjust so that my child can play our PS3 games on-line?

i dont think it's a good idea for an 8 year old to be playing online anyway, because of things he might hearand because a lot of ppl dont want 8 year olds online, like me, i hate it when i hear these little kids on headsets cursing ppl out and acting immature

The the kid, who is on offence, get tackled and fumbles the ball. The other team runs the ball back and scores a touchdown.

I guess that is what I need to do. Make a new sub account for my child. Anybody know what the minimum age is for a child's sub account to be able to play on-line?

My child and myself will not be using the on-line voice chat feature so that will prevent either side from verbally communicating. I have set my child's sub account to "restrict Chat with other users = Yes" to prevent that option.

Put him as 35, just to make sure.

Yeah, your 8 year old playing online is a big no-no. You don't want him going around your house saying the things he hears online to you and your family. Trust me, it's VERY bad, even to the point where it bothers even me and I'm 28 and I swear myself. (just the conventional words like F, S and A)

You should have a highschool diploma to play ANY videogame online IMO. I am so sick of hearing tween / teens talk online. Reisling

i dont mind hearing teens talk online as long as they dont have high pitched voices, then i just leave then game because i hate guys with high pitched voices,......it drives me INSANE, then i usually end up cussing them out and tell them to shut up, lol
