Well the only reason I could think of was cost composite cables are cheap and sony has tons of them laying around. There are a ton of games that lie about resolution maybe about 90% of them not just halo.

Thanks, I needed a good laugh. If it's your attraction to the art style that makes you say that then fine, but Halo isn't even in the top 15 or so best looking games this generation, but to each his own.
Seriously though, I've always found it funny that the Playstation 3 is so focused towards HD, what with it's HD gaming and HD movie playback, yet it comes with SD cables. Doesn't seem right, does it?

Ok X Box fanboy, you are right, you do not get the cables with the PS3 so you have to go out and buy them. Yet they don't have to be Sony brand, so it is not like Sony for sure gets that money. HOWEVER, The 360 does not come with a HD DVD player or wifi, two things alone add up to over 100$ in add-ons, that HAVE to be MicroSoft brand.
Sony's PlayStation 3 supports 1080p. Aside from that, you would be the wiser to choose to buy an HDMI cable rather than component cables. Sony includes regular cables because many customers do not yet have high vision display sets (HD TV).
Because the average Joe would think you would need a HDTV to play the ps3, thus reducing sales. The composite cables are there to show that every televison suppourts the ps3.
