Why is it you have to move a stick about 4mm (roughly 10 degrees) before it starts moving the character/cross-hair/race-car excetera?

Ps2 controllers were never like that, one time a accidently bought a cheap non-sony brand controller for the ps2 and it felt just like the sony PS3 controllers do now.

It makes it really hard to make the small adjustments you need to make in shooters or racers, it's all or nothing.

The new L2 and R2 buttons are worse as well, they just feel like they've got the back missing and they don't push down the right way. And the L1, R1 buttons are hit or miss.

The controllers don't even look good, their matt black finish doesn't at all go with the glossy modern-looking console. They let the system down.

you know... come to think about it. i actually agree with you... but i got used to it sooooo long ago tht i dont even notice it anymore... it certainly is not tht big of an issue tht it would take away from the system. but yes a tighter control scheme with tthe analogs would be better. but tht might not be sony's fault... it could be up to the developers...idk :P but yah the R2 and the L2 i hate :P but oh well. i jus get used to it :P

What do you mean by "L1 R1 buttons are hit or miss"? It's easy to press those buttons. Hehe.

The finish (texture) doesn't have to be match with the console. My PS3 is ceramic white and I will buy a silver dualshock once my sixaxis starts to feel like crap.

I don't have a Dualshock 3. Do they suffer the same issue?
