Why did you buy a PS3?

I bought a PS3 because I am low on money and cannot afford a high end pc. Why pay over 1000 dollars to get a pc to run FEAR or half life 2 when you can just pay half and run them good or better. I also bought it because I am a PS3 fanactic sony is brilliant, and the PS3 is a multimedia center watch movies listen to music and go on the internet.

i bought one becasue i like to have the choice of more than just one system and its games.

It sounds shallow but I got mine in impulse! I went into a local game shop and asked how much they'd give me on a trade-in for my old PSTwo and a 360 HD-DVD drive and it was enough to convinve me! I'm glad I did tbh. Would prefer the ports that I've got to be on PS3 now rather than the 360 but I still like the 360 exclusives aswell.

ATM I spend more time playing PS2 and PS1 game tho and am actively buying PS2 games again :)

Not a fanboy but am impressed with the PS3 so far...

I needed to step up into the next-gen, didn't want to be behind.

The wii seemed too much of a casual gamer type thing that was just too corny for me and the 360 looked nice but I love RPGs.

There's so many reasons why I bought a PS3:

1)I just loved the PS1, PS2 and SOny has shown us that it's very competant in what it's doing
2) MGS4 and FFXIII definitly a reason to buy the PS3
3) Online play! I never had online play on the PS2  so couldnt wait to get the PS3!
4) compatibilty with the PSP, I actually bought the PSP because I knew that sony would release the PS1 games for download on the PSP, Can't wait to play clasics like Metal gear 1, Resident Evil, Silent Hill1
5) HD platform and blu-ray player

You can probably tell I'm really into my PS3, its the best console yet!

I got it because Sonys exclusives are my favourite games and also for the blu ray, i also wanted the console with the best potential and the cell and blu ray give it plenty(Lots of space means uncompressed textures etc etc, sound, longer games, etc etc....cell can do crazy things lol)..as well as for the multimedia center part, anddddd the free online is awesome

For blu-ray alone.  I had a huge tax return this year and wanted an HD movie player. If it wasn't for blu-ray or if BR players were a lot cheaper, I wouldn't own a PS3.

I owned all consoles last gen too and my PS2 got the least amount of attention. I also expect my PS3 to get the least amount of attention this gen. The Wii60 will provide me with more than enough games to play.

exactly!!! just ive ran out of money to buy a Wii :( 

because it is a multi-media center and a decent blu-ray player and i have always been a sony fan

not that i dont like MS or nintendo cuz i do, but i would rather have PS3

Well the reason why I brought a PS3 and Wii ( I know the question wasn't about the Wii but I don't give a damn ) is because I owned all the PS systems so far so why stop now? ( plus it has "future" written all over it ),and for the reason why I brought a Wii....well it's simple I have Gamecube games that I want to experience in 480p,play VC games ( loved GunStars Heros back in the day)  and not to mention that it has a web browser like the PS3 does and plus it takes up less space in my entertainment area ( the Wiimote isn't bad either ).

Well there you go,all the reasons why i own both.

Looking back I wished I had'nt had got a PS3. I should have waited a year into the online aspect was sort and into there was a few more top games. O and I would have save cos I'm sure there be a price cut by the years end...
