Metal gear solid 4 is one example of how long a game takes and then is delayed , now gta 4 and there are so many other titles, i know the developers try to make a game the best it could be, but its not worth waiting 3 to 4 years for a game you'll beat once and go on to the next until the next one comes out, and thats how videogame time goes by, by actually playing months different games until the one u want comes out and u findout its sucks

first of all, they do that to make a better game, and secondly, programming is hard dumbass

actually some games are really worth the wait if you love it... I been waiting for spore to come out for a long time... Its been what almost 2 years already maybe even three... Spore got delayed 4 times that right 4 times... Trust me I know how you feel but I am sure if the game gets delayed its to make it even better than expected...

Game that really disappointed me was how Twilight Princess kept getting delayed. But a Playstation game, GTA4 really really really really really disappointed me.

Well as confusing as the game making process is today, its really hard to say that a game will be made and sent out a specific day .

No, game programming is very difficult, especially programming for a huge game like Metal Gear Solid 4. You have to deal with huge amounts of code, which makes things like tracking down bugs and optimizing no easy task. An example of a big game is Prey, which is made up of about 750,000 lines of code (source: Game Developer magazine). I wouldn't be surprised if MGS4 was comprised of over a million lines.

Also, watch out for rumors. Some people beleive a game is coming out at a time but it is only a rumor like with Halo2 and people kept on thinking it was coming out a speceific date when bungie had never even announced anything.

Dude why don't you draw 3D graghics ...
Then character models ...

Then do 80 animation per character -> at an average of 1 second per animation ... which is 60 frames.

Now code the gameplay, draw graphics for menu's ...
Now check for bugs ... find all the bugs in around 10,000 - 20,000 lines of code for a certain aspect of the game ...

Now balance the game ...
Now get rid of the new bugs ...
Now ensure the frame rate is top notch ...
Now ensure the game never needs more then the allocated system resources ...
Now go back and review your work ...
Now re-do any animations which need changing for balance or bugs ...
Now re-do any textures which you can make look better ...
Now seach for bugs again ...
Now review your game again ...
Now add polish ...
Now fix new bugs ...
Now review game again ...

After all that you have to convince people to buy your game ... those graphics will likly be average looking compared to next years titles and unless the gameplay is excellent their is a high chance your game will be ignored ...

Now tell me game devlopers are lazy when i just a FEW tasks which they have to do ...

I just want you to know that you made yourself look ignorant the moment you implied making a game is easy. From the looks of the other posts you made quite a bit of enemies also. I almost feel sorry for you........wait no thats the alcohol talking. Word of advice next time before you hit thesubmit button read what you wrote and make sure that it's something that's worth being said.

When stuff get delayed i always look at the Miyamoto Quote "A delayed game is eventually good, a bad game is bad forever"

You make a ****ing game, right now, damnit. You people *****, whine, and moan about it, but have never ****ing tried it yourself. It's far more difficult than you people think. You sir, need to GTFO my internets. I hate it when people ****ing make posts like this. You are the perfect example of a complete and total moron. You don't even have the IQ to make an intelligent post, let alone a game. So, before you type one more stupid goddamn post, make sure you think about what the **** you are typing.

LOL you tell him!!!

Yeah, I'm sure the developers love making their potential buyers mad, so they delay the game even though it's easy to make and they're done with it...

If it means a better game in the end no gamer should have a problem with delays.

It's called the holiday season. People generally spend money at that time of the year because of...Christmas? Hannukah? Kwanza? Some people get year end bonuses...The the heck else is there to do in the middle of the winter when it's 10 degrees outside?

Try programming a simple program on your graphing calculator to convert ounces to pounds. Mess up one line and it doesn't work. Try doing that, except a million times (literally) larger and complex.

Talk about ignorance...
